I didn't call, but I did e-mail them. The price was on the website at time of order. I did suggest a discount for another body and they rejected it out of hand. "it is obvious they did not feel responsible for the costs you incurred as a result of their misinformation." - not responsible enough to do anything about it, and thats what really got me PO'd, besides their disrespectful attitude - essentially, just go to maxmax and leave us alone! This kind of attitude will previal if no one says anything - I am, buyer beware.

One of those situations where sometimes I will call the company before purchasing a used item and confirm that it can be converted. I also like to have the quote for the conversion prior to my purchasing anything.

It is like most companies...they will accept liability only up to a point. And it is obvious they did not feel responsible for the costs you incurred as a result of their misinformation. One possible way to recoup some costs is to see if they would do the job on a different camera body and give you credit (discount) for the costs you incurred as a result of their mistake. They might do this...

A UV only conversion is simple enough, similar to an IR conversion, but replaces the hot shot filter with one that passes ~350-400nm. Allows you to shoot UV, but focus in the visible [easier for me than liveview]. I didn't have a suitable camera to convert, so out of the list on their website [since changed], I asked them which model was, in their experience best. They claimed all were equally suitable - that should have raised a red flag right away [clearly not true]. Anyway, I picked up a nice used D100 [non refundable], sent them the money and camera. Got a call a week later - OOPS, they made a mistake, they really can't convert that model [or several others on the old list]. They refunded my money and returned my camera. They wouldn't consider working with me on this or refund the original S&H. Their customer service rep was arrogant and condensending - "we didn't tell you to buy a D100" and finally told me to send it to maxmax. Good advice! Bottom line, I didn't get the conversion I wanted, am out S&H and am stuck trying to unload a D100 [nothing wrong with it, but I have a newer/better model].

How about more information on the camera, and the "UV only conversion". And, now that you are on NRF, how about sharing some of those bug shots?

I was looking for a UV only conversion so I asked which model from their pull down list was best, they claimed any of those on that list [since changed] would work fine, I bought one second hand [non-refundable] for them to convert. OOPS - they really can't convert that model! They're sorry, but I'm stuck with S&H and trying to resell an obsolete camera [not alot of money, but..]

there answer is;
"I think that getting your camera converted through maxmax would be the way to go, especially as it is much less expensive."

I did get a refund and my camera is supposedly on its way back.
