Read the manual. Then go out and shoot photos of everything. Try slow shutter speeds, as well as fast shutter speeds. Try to use all the different shooting modes.

Then if you have a computer, download these to the computer and look at the images you have captured.

What we all find is certain techniques work better than others. The only way to learn this is by shooting a lot of photos and making a lot of mistakes....
