Oh, I have this on Flickr

http://www.flickr.com/photos/fantinesfotos/6823093006/in/photostream/lightbox/

And as long as no one sells the image, one can use it for at least comparing to the print in LR or whatever. I pull it up and see what it looks like on my monitor, then adjust the print to give me the relationship I want with the calibration chart.

Mostly it is a browser thing. Finely they are including color profiles which helps some but yes, we all have that issue. The ipad retina display (and other tablets) has more contrast which has caused me issues. Prints come out less contrasty and a few have wanted more (even though I thought they looked like garbage.) I have found few really notice it though.

I think the difference may be far less than most people get concerned about. But, I will have to check out the appearance on another members computer. I have a friend who knows more about computers than anyone on this forum I would guess. And he has monitors which are the super hi res type. I will look at what NRF PAD looks like....

This problem is ongoing and irritating.....I will post photos on PAD, then redo the photo for color balance and repost. My screen is warmer than the PAD results, so I have to have my photos appear warm to come out on PAD. No real problem, but when others have less quality computers and look at your photos...sometimes they see a not so nice final image.

Oh well....

Oh sure, the laptop I am typing this on has a terrible screen even if I am perfectly centered on it. If there are ten peopled crowded around it, there are ten different pictures being seen. My calibrated desktop has a much better quality screen with a wider viewing angle tolerance too.

In the days of Print, you could be pretty sure, the client saw, what you saw

Today, our work is likely to be viewed on a computer screen over which we have no control

This became apparent, when I told a friend, some pics on Flickr, seemed a bit dark

When he looked at my calibrated screen, he agreed but suggested I turn the calibration off

This resulted in much brighter pictures (very little difference in color balance )

any thoughts ?
