I agree on that. Of course it's just a coincidence. Yet Fuji and Nikon have so many things in common that it's very confusing for a non japanese audience. Luckily I'm japanese and can see that Nikon HQ is in Chiyodaku in Tokyo while Fujinon is is Saitama...

Fuji is also a surname/mountain/river in Japan. The Fuji in the address of a Nikon building just means it's named after a person/mountain/river not that the camera company Fujifilm owns Nikon. I can see why some would be confused though.

lol, no Nikon is part of the Mitsubishi Group. Nikon has sold camera bodies to Fuji for them to put their own image sensors inside.

That was in my Pro DX thread, this will simply cost $2000+ to make, the body alone without a sensor would properly cost $1200+ if it has speed and things on par with a D300s

Yes Niko I would... provided it had the capeabilities (FPS & ISO) of the D3s. Heck... Pixel for pixel its a bargain compared to the D3s !

You'd pay over $1000 for a 5mp camera?! Wow?! How many 5mp point & shoots cost over $400 now a days? Actually are there any 5mp cameras other then mobile phones?

In all honesty, I really want this camera to exist. I love low light shooting, but since I started shooting, I've printed very few shots... I mostly view my photos digitally on my computer with its crappy <100 DPI resolution. For me, 12MP is total overkill. That's why I tend to shoot with my D40 and not fight my girlfriend for the D90.

If I could have the DX Crop of the D3s (5 MP's if I'm not mistaken), I'd be a happy man, and could shoot in near darkness. I'd pay $1200 for such a camera.

Maybe because the D3 series sensor is a Nikon trade secret. Fuji would have to buy the rights to it and Nikon would say, "hells no!" :^)

While I can understand the hope for a best-in-all-categories type of camera, why couldn't a firm like Fujifilm take the already-done homework of the D3S sensor and throw it in a DX format with less Mpx for a similar (if not below) price to a S5pro?
If Nikon or Canon or Fujifilm doesn't do it, Apple or Nokia or Asus will perhaps do it (ok I feel very fragile on this last argument :D )

Lomo cameras have been around for waaaaay longer than digital has. So calling it a trend or a fad is like saying the same of B&W photography!!!

I tend to agree. For the majority of consumers, the most meaningful stat about a camera is MP, not ISO. From a marketing standpoint, it would be hard to create a succesfully selling product with a low MP. Once the industry moves beyond a certain standard, anything below that would fail to impress consumers and fail to sell as well.

I like the idea in theory, but unfortunately it probably wont happen.

Give Nikon some time and I'm sure they will give you 24mp with D3S ISO performance at a D300 price!
