The most logical progression is the D700s, since we are only mid-term for camera releases, yet the market is clamoring for more. Upgrade fever has overtaken this planet!

The D300s and D3s releases add fuel—since it appears to show the direction that Nikon is taking in 2009 to early 2010. With dual card slots, D-Movie, and a tweaked image sensor, the D700s is clearly imminent. Break out your checkbooks, NAS is about to get hot.

firstly heartyfisher, thank you, that comment was too kind :)

and secondly - I think I may have elaborated on the dual CF because the last guy said "dual slots" i automatically assumed dual CF like the d3s - but you're right CF/SD like d300s makes more sense. silly me.

if they use the same sensor as in the current model, than it will not be a danger for d3s sales, even when they add double CF slot. However, I think they will put a CD/SD slot and a sensor from d3s - this would be a nice camera.

Well it looks like I will be buying the D700s as soon as supplies level out. I am really glad I do not have to wait a year for Nikon to release 1080p.

NAS is so wrong, but feels so right, `i say wait for D700s I am. and i'm 100% because he said he was told directly from Nikon, the first guy in London said the Nikon rep told him. He also boasted that he knew about the d300s 1 month before all others in the shop. I believe them both, why would they lie?

Hope its true.. I am keen to get the D700 in Jan.. If true the D700 should have a nice dip in price :-)

I hope it gets released later now haha I finally gave up waiting and after 15 months I traded in my D300 on Christmas and got the D700. Its wonderful just like I knew it would be, but like you HennaM the D700x, D800 or whatever it will be called with the D3x in a smaller consumer body is my dream. It would probably be the last digital body I would ever buy. Unless they changed the sensor design completely. I hear Nikon is working on eliminating the mirror if you can imagine that....

Let's just hope for the best then :^)

I can't help but doubt the dual CF. To begin with, is there even room for it? And then it would cut into D3(S) sales, and on-and-on.

hello people,

I'm a humble portrait photographer based in London but have received unequivocal news that the D700s announcement is immanent.

I enquired in London and was told "yeap d700s i Jan".

I am now in Dubai and enquired about the d700 and was told "don't bother, we have been informed just today that the d700s will be released very soon".

I asked "are you sure" about 5 times and he said "yes positive" i then asked every member of staff who concurred.

The only additional spec that they told me was dual CF and 1080 video.

I am so happy.

I agree NIKYVEE, its like waiting for Gidot, what is taking sooooooooooo long.

I keep saying that because Nikon doesn't produce their own sensor, they really have a big disadvantage in the digital age. It would be the equivelent in the film days if they had to rely on Canon for their shutter assembly.

Not a good place to be and I believe the main reason for Nikon not producting the D800.

Nikon wake up and release the camera already!
