Poster, I fixed it myself once already a few months ago (the zoom motor had been jarred loose), but this time the zoom motor thing happened again and also the side of the flash tube got chipped so it no longer fires. I figured it worth the $10 to send it in to see what they say and just disapprove it if it's more than I want to pay.

I no longer care for Nikon warranty. Screw them.

they charge a flat fee for repairing Nikon Sb 600. $130 bucks. I was so pissed of when I heard about it, that I fixed it my self.

Gorilla super glue- $5
Time spent on fixing the unit- 3h9 including the time to allow for the glue to dry)

Satisfaction on doing it yourself while saving $125 bucks- priceless

Good thing is your status was not something like:
One or more of the following errors may have occurred:
* Incorrect Billing Name
* Incorrect Order Number
* Repair completed
* Dropped it
* Glued it
* Glue dissolved most of the plastic ;(
* SB-600 now seams irreparable
* Just tell the customer alien plasma thing somehow got into it and that is not covered by warranty, hopefully he will swallow it

I sent my SB-600 in for repair and they got it yesterday. I went to check the status and this is what it told me:

One or more of the following errors may have occurred:

    * Incorrect Billing Name
* Incorrect Order Number
* Repair completed

I'm sure it's just not in the system yet, but I thought it was funny they list "Repair completed" as a possible 'error.'

"Sorry, Mr. Johnson. We have located your flash. Are you sitting down? It's...it appears it has been repaired. I'm so sorry about this."
