Oh, we're good. I think that the simple fact is that Dell has made a monitor that doesn't handle color profiles very well, and that's the long and short of it. Thanks a lot for your help, though. This has been a valuable learning experience in color spaces, hahaha.

After some investigation, I have found that it defaulted back to the monitors default color profile. I changed it back to what the Spyder did and the color is better, however not fixed. Photos that I view in Firefox are still not quite right. I could change my whole display to sRGB but it really seems like that blows out all of my pictures and I might be tempted, in editing, to completely murder the color.

What about your mac's system settings? Don't use the profile Spyder3 gave you?

No new drivers, I've used the USB SD card reader and it doesn't change anything, and I believe that that color profile is what the Spyder3 generated...

Well then it looks like you're just going to have to get use to it until you have the moola to buy a replacement. Honestly it's not that bad is it? If you're not selling your prints and you're not doing color critical print jobs then I say don't worry about it.

Hahahaha, no I've definitely noticed this for a long time, and many times I have tried to fix it, but never have I actually been so aggressive about it. I just recently got into more precise color editing and then about 3 weeks ago started to put stuff on tumblr regularly, which is when it started getting to ridiculous to stand.

It was a gift from last Christmas, so we're coming on a year. If I were, in a stroke of luck to get a refund (but I doubt I'd get it), then I would probably get an old Apple monitor, as the new ones cannot connect to my older MBP (because apparently there's no female DVI to male mini-displayport connector, only the male to female).

Have you tried Dell support? That apple discussion was over a year ago so maybe an updated firmware set things right? How long have you had this monitor? Was it passed down to you? Seems like something you "could" live with for a while if this was a gift.

I don't like the new  displays actually. I don't think the glossy one's have good color reproduction. My dad with his new iMac is jealous of my good ol' cinema display :^)

Apparently some people have returned this, so I'll see how I fare on that. Problem is that I got it as a gift, so I don't have any receipt or anything... I'd also have to like, figure out how much I'd get back for it and calculate the difference between an Apple monitor or just dealing with it. Hahahaha.

Well this seems to have the answer. This monitor is not very good for color editing and working in sRGB in general.

Post a link to a photo you're working with not a screen shot. Try to bypass your monitor and download directly to a usb on your mac

I have an SD card reader in my monitor... I also have a USB card reader as well, should I give that a try?

.png is the default filetype for screenshots.

Fair enough.

Remove SD card from D90. Place into monitor. Open Lightroom. Lightroom prompts me to import photos from device. Use the following settings:

Option 1 (what I typically do): export images with the following settings:

[80% since they're going to be minimized in tumblr anyway, and tumblr only accepts up to 5MB photos.] Upload pictures to tumblr.

Option 2 (what in order to try different color space stuff in Photoshop, as it has more control over it): In LR, click edit -> in Photoshop CS4. Then follow mb's advice and save for web with the following settings:

The problem isn't your browser. Your photos are being embedded with the wrong color space. The clue comes from where is this Dell monitor color space being embedded? You need to tell us exactly how your going about with your digital work flow.

Use Safari! Safari 4 is awesome! Why do people use FireFox anyway? I hate 3rd party stuff.

While you're at it you can switch to Aperture LOL ;^)

Yeah, it's been enabled the whole time, which is good.

mb, I followed all your directions and the problem persists. I am using a specific color profile that was made with the Spyder3 calibrator... the rest of the defaults were very off.

Alas, maybe a reason to use Safari is presenting itself...
