Thanks for the information. I was able to upgrade the firmware in the WT-4 from 1.0 to 1.1 using the D3s. This is the first time I have tried to setup the WT-4 as it only works with the D3 and I don't have any other D3 cameras. Hopefully Nikon will get back to me so we can all learn how to do this.

You're right about the switch to MTP/PTP being the only USB mode, so the menu entry for it is gone. I think that happened when the D700 and D90 were released. That's why I suspect you'll need to upgrade the WT-4's firmware to version 1.1. If it's already there, I don't know what else to suggest.

Okay, this is turning into a comedy of errors. Now it seems to me like it does say it's possible to update the firmware of the WT-4. Is there a way you can check the version on the other camera?

I'm sorry. I was reading something at nikon's support site and I misread it to say there is a firmware version for the transmitter itself. It was actually talking about the camera's firmware, which wouldn't apply in this situation. I think I nailed it when I said I wouldn't be a lot of help.
