Not sure if you read the accompanying text to the video on youtube, but I did have reverb from the amp on the vocals, perhaps too much. That's just me trying to disguise my singing! As for the light, it is a fluoro fixed to the roof, but I am thinking of moving my black backdrop on the wall along a metre or so, so that the overhead light is in the middle and doesn't create shadows, although I guess a partially shadowed face could be considered a legitimate lighting effect.

Thanks for your suggestions. Regards from Mike

Sorry, have I done something inappropriate? I'm not familiar with all the rules, but thanks for leaving it up as I think it might help others.

I don't know what to say...except another mod may pull this or close it...but, you obviously can entertain with your voice and guitar..

Now, I would move the light source to left of camera about two feet overhead...and the mic for the voice...needs highly directional system so as to eliminate the echo effect, unless this is what you want....

This topic arose from another different issue and I thought deserved it's own thread so I could pass on what I have learned in making a video using the video function of the Nikon P7100. In particular, I learned that it was possible to use the 'hotter' line out from an acoustic guitar amp, to record vocals and acoustic guitar in stereo directly into the more 'sensitive' mic input of the Nikon.

This is the test video of me doing an acoustic cover of Tomorrow Never Knows. There is also substantial text in the background under the video in youtube which details how I made the video and solved certain problems, although not all.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsdWbcv78yY&feature=plcp

I hope it is some use to both Nikon users and musicians. It certainly has been and still is a learning process for me.

Regards from Mike
