@ PaulR Yes, this is the link I looked at to see the data on the lenses. Thanks for bringing this up. I used many view cameras in the past, and am used to the Sinar's of the 1960'3 (like a Rolex watch) so I do find the 24mm PC f/3.5 Nikkor to be "less than ideally constructed" regarding the locking screws. It is also a bit cumbersome to get rotated on the mount, and the issues of not being able to use the tilt and shift functions independently makes its usefulness less than a full view camera set up such as the Schneider. However, it is a very nice lens, sharp, and I find I love it due to the fact it requires some actual thinking on my part (like manual focus, manual aperture setting) and this keeps me honest.

I am not certain why Schneider did not make a shorter focal length for the 35mm format.

I really posted on this thread to keep it near the top so maybe someone would see it and add some useful information...help!

Thanks Msmoto, I had the Nikon version the 24PC but found it difficult to use, the screws self tightened and whole lens took considerable time to set up. The schneider seems to be a different kind of animal with a larger adjustment than the Nikon. The 90 would seem to be for macro work while the 50 has a broader use.

I am used to LF cameras so the use of these lenses are familiar to me

See Link http://www.schneideroptics.com/pdfs/photo/PC-TS%20Anleitung%201-12%20en.PDF

Talking to a user of this lens would I am sure give more information than what can be gained from the Internet

OK, I do have the 24mm Nikkor PC. And as I have looked at the information on the Schneider 50mm TC, I can see a couple of interesting differences. The enormous advantage of the Schneider is the independent tilt/shift functions, in any direction. At least this is what I discern from the literature. As I do have a 90mm f/8 Super Angulon (4x5 format) I can attest to the great build/sharpness of this and would believe Schneider has not fallen down on the job.

That said, the 50mm focal length would be a bit took long for my use as it would not be useful indoors for any interiors. The cost of nearly $3400 is almost twice that of the Nikkor.

I would try to find the MTF charts and at least look at them, compare to the Nikkor. Maybe contacting Schneider directly for performance data is possible.

In conclusion, if it were a shorter lens, 35mm or 28mm, I think I would go for it because of the individual tilt/shift capabilities...

Hope someone has more info. I absolutely love my 24mmPC Nikkor!
