I think you need to ask B & H about the return policy. While Nikon is most certainly aware of the issue, whether they have made changes and produced bodies which do not have this anomaly no one knows. Since the camera has only been out for a few months I would not assume the bodies currently in the US are necessarily free from the excessive spots initially seen.

Spraynpray really has the best advice. If you are near B & H, they may clean the sensor free or a Nikon Service Center most certainly will. I can shoot 200 frames in an hour or two, and I might suggest you go out and shoot some images...about two hundred, then shoot a nice white piece of paper, underexposed by about 1-2 f/stops, focused on infinity and the paper about two feet from the lens. And at f11 or smaller. Look at the spots and see what you have. If there are a lot of spots near one corner, get it cleaned and see how it goes after this. Shoot with the highest FPS it will shoot (5 FPS I think) and click off about a hundred or so. Then do the white paper thing again.

The intent is to get past the oil/dust spot issue so you can go about your business and not worry about the issue.

I can't say when you will see the first spots, but they say that the spots stop after 3000 or so clicks. If you are seriously going to send your D600 back every time it gets a spot on the sensor, I would give up digital photography if I were you (no offense meant). It seems certain that with you opening the thing to change lenses and the zoom lenses acting like pumps when zoomed in and out, you stand no chance of keeping it pristine for long even without this issue of the D600 creating more spots than most.

Frankly, most people do not package cameras well enough for them to not suffer some pretty high 'G' forces in transit so I do not get a warm feeling that you would not be increasing your chances of more serious problems by incessantly sending bodies back because of spots on the sensor. I would say get a good sensor cleaning kit and learn to use it well.

I just picked up my D600 kit from B and H. My serial number is 3057xxx, I hope this batch Nikon fixed the dust/oil spot problem.

Lets just say they don't. When should I expect to see spots on sensor? I know that after Christmas I will probably have about 200 shots on the body.

If I do find spot, what is B and H return policy? Will they send me out another one in replacement, just like Amazon would?
