This is what I am wondering myself as I ordered a D4 from Vistek here in Canada but they say they been getting none. Vistek is a one of the bigger camera stores in Canada and is a authorized dealer in the mean time I been looking at the Nikon Store in the US as well as Amazon and they seem both been able to sell D4's. It's a signed deal with Vistek so I just can't ordered it from anywhere else now so I got to wait for it to arrive and the summer will be half over by the time I get it

For Nikon to sell items through their own online store when there are small dealers who depend on the sales to earn a living is wrong.

For sure they should fulfill orders before they themselves sell on-line and there should be no advantage of buying from them instead of from a dealer either.

Why is it that I have two items ordered through my local "brick and mortar" Nikon dealer and the items have been back ordered for quite some time but the online "Nikon Store" has the same items available for immediate purchase. I am a huge supporter of local camera shops where I can hold and try the items that I want to buy. For Nikon to sell items through their own online store when there are small dealers who depend on the sales to earn a living is wrong. It is difficult enough for these local stores to compete with the likes of the large online dealers like Adorama and B&H not to mention the big box stores; but now they are being forced to compete with the very companies that they rely on to put food on the table.

For those of you who have had D4's on order with either local stores or online resellers, the Nikon Store had D4's available this morning.
