There is in ViewNX2 a menu choice in the file menu to upload images to "my Picturetown" too...

Personally, I'm not a big fan of Instagram, the hipster in me really dislikes all the fake lomography stuff added to cell phone pics and even DSLR pics. If you're going for that look, you might as well shoot using film as originally intended. But I can't lie, Instagram is a powerful social media tool. I've gotten a good amount of gigs and have met new clients just through posting photos there. Double edged sword of course, but for he time being, I think I'll still go through it.

I never liked Instagram because they required a log in just for me to take a photo. I hate logins because I hate remembering passwords.

I'm not sure they are interested in selling people pictures (they all look awful on there anyway), but advertisers would be interested in looking through pictures to see what they should target you with.

Something similar goes for Nikon's "Picturetown" ....
Nikon also claims to "own" the pics you upload there...

Facebook, Google, they are both the same, it's hard to keep track of all the companies they are buying out, and to which one.

Instagram's terms of use have always allowed them to do this. What this change does is make that more clear. Basically they went from terms that allowed them to use the images in any way they liked to terms that spelled out that they reserved the specific right to use the images commercially.

yeah there are some pretty popular people on there... but to me, using a dslr and sending it to instagram defeats the purpose of instagram. instagram should be for photos taken with a cell phone, and used with those creative filters.

Instagram has recently changed their terms of service, so that if you have an account on january 16th, they will be able to sell your photos without permission.
