Although he name escapes my mind, one of the artists who was exhibiting at the LA art show did a tad of that. As someone who did texture art for Cg 3d models, my photo experience (and wacom tablet)has led me to get carried away with the few images I dare to edit outside of the camera... Cg talk has some of that stuff

I know what matte painting is, Ive done some of it for film, ive worked in VFX for film for over 8 years now, I was just down in the Disney boardwalk and saw some of these printed really large and it caught my attention. You can be negative to someone's art I guess but it seems many like his work. I used it for an example to see if anyone was doing any surreal photography manipulation.

That's some of the worst still compositing I've ever seen passed off as "art". Matte painting is generally very large hand painted backdrops used for film. You will see a lot of matte paintings in CG like Pixar also, because it's easier to comp in a background than have to render scenery.

I'm guessing you just like photo manipulated scenery?

It's nice to see someone else in the CG field here. It does appear that Mr. Barbey has just discovered photoshop. I'm kind of confused why you posted his stuff when you're talking about matte painting.

If anyone has seen my site you'll notice my main love is for film and vfx work. Although I really like the finer points of photography and filming as well (compositing, lighting, story etc) I really like editing and effects. I was wondering if anyone on here does any matte painting / photography stuff with their nikon cameras and if they have any tips or want to show some great work they've done.

Ive seen some great stuff but on a road trip to florida I saw these in orlando and it just blew me away

http://thomasbarbey.com/nflash/detail.cfm?pid=110

he has more but I was wondering if some other people have some favorites or some they have done.

Thanks
