So NIKON called about my D4 and said '..It's a problem they are aware of, there will not be a 'fix' until late May or later, and that the camera locks up when the blinking highlights and/or RGB histogram is turned ON'" Hmmmmm...... why do I not believe that?...

There is a very large thread regarding this topic, it was started by an admin guy, lots of culprits are examined, lots of folk complain of the same issue, dirty battery/memory card connectors was one, different types of cards are a strong favorite, i have started a thread to examine this possibility, cheers

Annoying, but that happens with new stuff all the time. Don´t worry, they will most probably be able to fix it soon. The Canon 5D3 has a light leak problem, 1D3 had some serious flaws, 7D had erratic focus problems for a long time. A Nikon D3X I know of sprayed oil inside the mirror box on day one and went for a long clean-up trip far away. Needless to say, the guy who bought that D3X was quite frustrated.

I just sent my new D4 in for service (!!!) as since day ONE - it freezes up while shooting. I tried both an XQD and CF, just the XQD and just a CF--and it still happens. Oddly, it happens while shooting at a normal pace, and not when i (during a test) fired off about 100 shots on high speed. The only way to 'unlock' it is to remove the battery and pop it back in. A friend has hers freeze up while reviewing photos! Something is fishy here and I hope they can figure it out for a $6000 item!
