NikoDoby - for sure I'll be one of the last ones who gonna give credit to KR, as for the rest of Your post I agree 100% that "A totally wireless world in photography is gonna have to happen." - yup it's just matter of time.

A totally wireless world in photography is gonna have to happen.

Watching your pictures "develop" as you shoot on an art director's iphone is very useful. It's better than having them stand directly over your shoulder while your trying to get the job done. But it also puts the pressure on you because now everyone "tuned in" to your camera can "chimp" your shots as you take them. So you can't hide your mistakes :(

Still very fun.

Yes I like to use my Flash(es) remotely outside and then the infrared system does not work all that well. Now I use these cheap wireless triggers from Ebay but then you have no metering control of you flash(es). Actually to be really cool maybe all brands should use the same wireless code/system so that even future Studio Lights could be adjusted from the Camera or all controlled from a computer. Maybe several cameras (not all the same brand) could be controlled from a computer or one camera controlling another.

Anyway have you seen the Iphone/touch camera remote control

It was Ken who used photoshop to add a Wi-Fi symbol to the top LCD readout of a "prototype" D90. I'd post the link but don't want to give his website more free traffic. It's nothing worthy of a look. Just a stock photo of a D90 with a "WiFi Active Linked" and his web address super imposed on the LCD. It's not the real deal.

Please lets not give Ken credit for Nikon's future advances in wireless technology. Anyway, back to the topic.

ups... thought it was on Thom Hogan's web page, but I see I got confused where I've seen the d90 picture with a wifi on the top lcd screen (for sure it wasn't on KR web page, and for sure it wasn't the Eye-Fi SD)

D90 prototype? Do you mean Ken Rockwell's Wi-Fi D90 "prototype"? That was just Ken's bad humor regarding Eye-Fi memory cards and a bad photo chop.

on bythom.com You can see a picture of d90 prototype with a build in wifi, so Nikon was thinking about this some time ago, and hopefully will bring this idea back to life in the next dslr's

WiFi is already in some point and shoots. Sony even has a camera with a web browser! I'm sure there are SLR prototypes with the same technology floating around (but you didn't hear it from me:) It's only a matter of time before we see it in production. I had the same question in another thread about having built-in GPS for future pro models too.

The problem with current radio triggers is not having metering info between flash and camera like infrared systems. So a future tech with metering and no line of sight would be super.

In future Nikon SLR's I would like to see build in wireless connections (not infrared)

Anyway you camera will be ready to connect to remote controls and flashes. Current flashes would have to have a control module (like the latest Pocketwizard) attached to them, but future flashes would have it build-in. Camera can also connect to computers etc with same connections. This might be a WiFi type connection, I am honestly not sure on how it should be done but as long as future attachments can easily be controlled by the camera

What is your hopes in this area

Peter
