It's a really nice camera. I had a job yesterday that ended up with over 2K shutter shots in several modes, differing meter modes, mixing a variety camera options. It was a dream with the D7K, but to be fair, there are several Nikons that make such work pleasurable.

Be sure to spend a great deal of time with the manual, and try to figure out what your ideal work flow (enjoyment flow) will be with the options with the camera.

An example of that might be that you might want to 'control' aperture (A mode) and watch what the camera chooses for shutter speed, and adjust -/+ exposure compensation for perfect exposure. That would be the same for any camera, but you'll learn that as you learn 'where' things are on your camera, you can do it quickly.

Your 35mm lens gives you an 'angle of view' very similar to a human's eye, and a fast f-stop - like Cary, I have it and it is the lens that I 'usually' leave on the camera. For my taste, I wouldn't put a lens attachment to modify lens behavior for angle of view, but would buy another lens, either wide or telephoto or zoom. It's a much more expensive option, and I don't fault you for saving some money. If you are happy with your results, then good. But in the fullness of time, you might want to expand your vision. If you're young, you have plenty of time to save and grow your collection - there's an English expression that suits this: Rome wasn't built in a day.

Take a lot of pictures! Every picture you take makes you a better photographer.

The D7K is amazing! I own two of them to compliment some of the best Nikon glass money can buy! Congrats!

P.s. I love my 35mm 1.8G! My fave lens, even out of all my pro glass.

It is an excellent camera. I finally pulled the trigger on one after I got my tax return back and after much researching. I wanted a Nikon that was under 2K that could take advantage of all the awesome manual focus lens glass that was out there and the just as excellent older autofocus lenses that are available out there as well. I will admit I am new to the DSLR scene, since I picked up a very fun S2 Pro before I bought the D7000 but wow what a camera.

My dad has been letting me use his old Nikon lenses since he shoots with Canons. I have added a few fast but really old (1960's to 1970's) I did a first level AI conversion and now I have some great glass that is pretty fast. If you don't mind shooting manual focus there are some great lenses out there that can be picked up fairly cheaply.

Anyway enjoy the D7000. I have only had mine since January and am still learning bits and pieces of the camera so have fun and shoot away.

Yes congratulations! Nice combo as well with the 35mm 1.8 you'll have lots of good times with them. That camera will last/be relevent for years to come.

An advice, use a small thread to connect between the camera and the screen protector, in order to prevent it from getting lost.

The D7000 has a lot of corners to be discovered, the best is that you will take a good rest and RTFM. (Read the Fantastic Manual), in this way, while the batteries are ready, you already will know your new toy.

Even if some say that any filter will degrade the image quality, for me it is a must to use one for protecting the lens. A filter cost at most 1/10 of the lens :)

i am just back from the shop with a d7000 and a 35mm 1.8(nikon)
a 16 gb Sandisk Extreme Pro (this from amazon germany) and a big air blower (pear shape lol)

i am recharging the battery and i am extremely nervous, tic tac tic tac ! come on buddy !

i have also ordered a 52mm Hoya filter for the front of the 35mm (don't want anything to come in touch with it

ps i am in Finland, 6 months over 12 either it rains or snows (or wet snow) i guess i absolutely need that filter.

plus i have a Raynox 250 to put over the 35mm (if it works fine ?) however i have the metal ring(step down)
