Hi All,

been having the same problem. Seems to occur only with my Sandisk Extreme Pro 45mb/s SDHC card.
Replaced with a 20mb/s card, which so far has not given me the same problem.

I was going to update this posting when I received notice of the above message...

I sent my camera back to Nikon as it was under warranty. The repair slip indicated that they replaced the power switch, calibrated autofocus, and cleaned the CCD.

I haven't had a chance to check out the camera... but I assume they found a problem with the switch since they replaced it.

Thanks for the suggestion about memory cards. I'll definitely keep it in mind should the problem repeat.

Try taking out your memory cards make sure they are clean and reinsert them one at a time. This happened to me a while back and it was a memory card reading problem the D7000 lock on trying to read the card but will not shut down. Just take them out and put them back in one at a time. Good Luck

Absolutely, this can really begin to create problems with changing out memory cards, lenses, etc. Having electrical current across the contacts is an unpredictable scenario when doing these functions. It can set up static charges, surge currents, improper voltages across contacts, a variety of potential problems. So, get it checked out as Adam has suggested.

Okay, I know the on/off switch on this camera isn't supposed to do much... However, mine appears to do NOTHING. There is absolutely NO difference between 'off' and 'on' positions. I can take pictures, change settings, do ANYTHING with the camera 'off'!!

Is this normal, or do I have a problem? I first noticed it back in December when the camera was new, but haven't had the time to really play with it and prove that there was no difference until yesterday.

Also, the GPS unit is appears to be always on whenever plugged in, despite GPS Auto-Meter Off being enabled.

A battery charge with the GPS plugged in lasts a little longer than a day with lite no-flash shooting, and about a week with no GPS or shooting whatsoever.

The momentary contact position all the way to the right lights up the LCDs -- which appears to be doing what it is supposed to. But... on/off ???

Any idea what gives?
