Not be so lazy about my photography and maybe actually get out and promote my work. I have had several people ask about taking family pictures and I never follow up. Probably the best way to getting new equipment it to make the funds with what I have.

Learn how to use my new D3100 to the best of my abilities! I actually have to get well acquainted to it by this summer as I'm taking my first workshop and want to be able to hang with the other participants. I have a feeling I'll also be filling in holes in my gear...possibly an external flash, bigger bag and if I'm really ambitious a Macro lens.

Well I would say its more like "Take better pictures" is the obvious answer but understand your thought on the matter. I would say this looks to be a promising year for new equipment Vs the past few years so I would not read that much into it.

I haven't counted carefully, but I estimate that the "Take better pictures" postings only slightly outweigh the "Buy yet more kit" postings.

Does that say something about NR members?

For me, it is to spend less time reading (I spent way too much time reading blogs and such last year), and more time working on my post-processing to get rid of my back log. I still have pictures from winter 2010 that I haven't even looked at, let along processed.

I'm adding to my earlier resolution post. If I knew what I knew now, when I bought my D5100, I would have bought the D7000. So, since the D7000 will be fully 2 years old in October 2012, I'm hoping it's replacement will be out this year. Thus my goal in addition to shooting more and reading less, is to upgrade to the D7000 replacement.

Dear Santa.....I already know what I want for Christmas this year!

This is a hard question for me, because there are so many Nikon resolutions ;-)

Bottom line is two things:

1. Need to upgrade my backup dSLR body, which is a D3000. I might buy another D7000 but then again, after the next couple of months worth of announcements, who knows?

2. I need to capitalize on the 'not through my employer' photographic contacts more. I have a couple of business possibilities in mind and if only one comes through, I'll be a very happy bunny indeed. Looks like I'll have to put more into the business side of this game - which is the side I fear the most. At least I control 'some' of what happens from behind the lens....

To spend less time lusting over the next lens/body/flash/tripod/filter, etc. I'm going to buy and more time trying to figure out ways to get the most out of the stuff I have.

(1)Get one of the "new" Fx bodies (or a D3s)

(2)Build my business

(3) make more images and take less

(4) another D7000 (man I love that camera!)

(5) 24-70mm would be nice (my 28-70mm really needs to be adjusted)

I'm an old folk too, I was referring to high school senior pictures. Too much drama for me in shooting that venue, I'd rather shoot convict's mug shots then go through that again. LOL

Sadly, not much different from last year:

1) THINK more before pressing the button; check the details.

2) (To help with no. 1 above) Use my tripod more often.

Convince Nikon to produce a V2 and enough new lenses to go with it … :)

Failing that, find enough money to get a D400 or whatever will replace the D300…

@adamz - you'll do great work with any of those lenses, I look forward to seeing what happens.

Be more disciplined while shooting (fewer 'I wish I had' moments when reviewing images)

Read more, watch more, learn more - I'm still an amateur with no classical training or industry exposure - I have a lot to learn from the pros.

That being said - teach more. I'm always meeting people who are eager to learn what I know. Time to start paying it forward in 2012.

Gear - One more 900/910, PocketWizards, proper muslin and paper backdrops for my 'studio' (living room) set up, and that's it. It's going to be a boring year for new toys.

I love the my 14-24, will rent the 400 2.8VRII in a week or so. I think thats the best way to go about those lenses. $160 to rent it for a day of chasing eagles or 7000-8000 to own it and have it sit around most days. I find the 70-200 more useful.

My resolution, take less pictures....my home server cant take the amount of photos I snap everyday. I bought an F100 and some B&W film to help only shoot what I intend on keeping.

Trip to Yellowstone NP for everything really but for the wolves and Bison rut.

Trip to Rocky Mountain NP for the Elk bugling season.

Trip to Bandolier NWR for the Sandhill Crane migration.

Finally purchase the 500mm bazooka lens.

Get right with my strobist skills.

I am sure there is more but this is a start.

Picky picky picky! :-) just a couple of minor considerations!

Some good ones on here so far. Sevencrossing your right its nice to stop shooting weddings for your own sanity. This is year I would like to take at least an image per day so like PBPM and others said shoot more. And again like Sevencrossing, make sure I have funds in reserve for the D800. 2012 is going to be a great year! :)
