Thanks for the good work. Looking forward to raw D5 and D500 files at reasonable and high ISOs in February.

You’ve had a very busy and exciting month. Good work!

Good work? Nikonrumors was completely blindsided by the D500, even as the announcement was going on nothing was posted here.

      • Of course I reported rumors on the D500 before the announcement, you must have missed my posts. FIY: Nikon doesn’t really invite me to their press conferences – this is why I did no report from the D500 press event like some other sites did, but I got the details 10 minutes later.

    D500 beats D5…

  • Great work…put your feet up for a day. Oh, wait…when’s that FF Pentax supposed to show up?

    • Max

      18 Feb, hopefully.

    • Michiel953

What’s a “Pentax ff”? Sounds like some kitchen appliance.

      • There is a full-frame Pentax being announced soon.

        • Michiel953

Pentax, Pentax… Does ring a bell.

Spotmatic? II? F? Super Takumar? 42 screw thread?

          • Yeah, you know, the camera every sailor bought when stationed in Japan. Closets still full of them. Actually, the LX was a pretty fine “pro” style SLR that was built like an anvil. I almost went with that in the beginning. But, most of the pros used Nikon and I wanted to look cool so….

            • Michiel953

I remember the feeling. A pro photographer friend of mine had a Spotmatic II I think, and gave or sold me his 35/3.5 Takumar, which I then used for yeras on my Yashica TL Electro (couldn’t afford a Pentax). I made the jump to Nikon (for status reasons, obviously) early 1990 when I bought a black FM2n and some used AiS glass.

            • My first “serious” camera was a Yashica mat124G…twin lens reflex. I still have my first b&w print from 1974 (and probably have the negative as well). Anyway, I soon figured out that I liked the shooting style afforded by 35mm and brought an F2. If they made a digital version of that physical camera I would buy it…regardless of price. No LCD screens, match needle in the viewfinder, manual focus lenses with aperture rings. I’d be happy as a pig in shit!

  • Great Work Peter. We also anxiously await whatever NIKON offers in the rest of 2016. January got off with a Big Bang. I’m excited that I can buy a D500 and not a D5, I can also afford a future D850 and possible mirror-less DSLR in 2017. Well done or sharing mature rumors!
