That’s a damn good deal. Gonna get one before they sell them out. Sarcasm off…

    • johnny

You can have the Otus 85 for around $3190 in Japan.

  • nwcs

    I bought 5. I’ll re-sell them later.

    Um, yeah, right…

  • doge

    Finally at a reasonable price.

    • T.I.M

      good one !
      :o)

  • Brett A. Wheeler

    ROTFLMFAO!!!!!!!

  • dredlew

Ha, had me at “$458.61″, lost me at “off” 😐

    • Eric Duminil

I saw an ad for a fitness studio membership 2 week ago : “500$ off!”, and was schocked at what must have been the original price.
      Same thoughts here.

      • Eric Calabros

        What they “fit” there?

        • vousplaisentezouquoi

          “fitless”

      • dredlew

        Sounds like Equinox gym…

      • sickheadache

Shocking! Eric, it is just plain Shocking. Even with programs today that use Shocking auto word correct, that you could spell shocked like this, schocked! I am SHOCKED!

        • Eric Duminil

Holy shit you’re right. I spent too much time in Germany 😀

    • BRNSMRF

I reached for my credit card before I finished reading 🙁
      Good troll, Admin.

  • I just ordered two in case one doesn’t focus properly…

    • T.I.M

      you stole my joke…
      :o(

  • T.I.M

    Still expensive for a 85mm f/1.4.
But I guaranty that you will never have front/back focusing issues with that lens !
    :o)

    • longzoom

With green dot it’s more than possible…

      • T.I.M

do you mean with the in-camera autofocus assistance ?

        • longzoom

I do mean manual focus assistance, what is main purpose of green dot…

          • T.I.M

Ok, I never use it, I prefer the live view mode (more accurate to me).

            • Eric Duminil

You’re right, the green dot is f**in useless on Nikon cameras in manual mode. The range is way too wide. It works fine in autofocus mode, though, which makes it all the more unexplainable.

            • john

You can use AF fine tune in camera for Manual lenses to set the desired output

            • Eric Duminil

Sure, but it’s really hard to find the right offset. You cannot use the green dot as a focus help for manual lenses with large aperture, because the range is so wide it covers severly front and back focused shots.

            • john

I’m talking about MF Zeiss lens I use. I used
              Datacolor SpyderLensCal SLC100 to set.

  • T.I.M

If you do 4K pro video that could be a good lens to have, anyway that lens is now $ 4K right ?

  • sickheadache

Zeiss …why not like..3999.99 That would make me feel pretty good. I feel a sick headache coming on. I need to lie down.

  • Spy Black

    Zeiss stand-up…

  • Woohoo, I think I’ll buy a case 😀

  • FountainHead

I’ll keep slumming it with my 135/2.

    • John Doe

I’ll keep slumming it with my 85mm 1.8G. That’s all the folk on my side of the tracks can afford.

  • vousplaisentezouquoi

    When it will be $ 4 000 off I will buy it…

    • Hardcore_Fanboy

      lol

    • T.I.M

arretezdeplaisanter, les Americains ont moins d’humour que les Francais !

  • Brandon Dittsworth

Grab it while it’s still $4,000. It’s the biggest steal this year…

    • one thing is true – I’ve never seen Otus lens on sale before

  • john

With all the jokes here about the lens I know everyone wants one.

  • Neopulse

Quite surprised at the price drop on this rather than the 55mm version.

  • I see, thanks for the link.

  • Roberto Solari

You get what you pay for, this is optical engineering at a very high level,if you think this is expensive then don’t even bother looking at Rodenstock HR glass or any Zeiss/Leica cinematic glass!
