That software link navigates to the European site. If you download and try to install it (from the U.S.) it tells you that it’s a “regional version” and that to install it, you have to de-install the old version first. But if you open the (U.S.) current version software and go to Check for Updates, it tells you there aren’t any, so I guess the update hasn’t been uploaded to the U.S. site as yet.

Why Nikon feels the need to regionalize the version when it’s free software, I don’t know.

Perhaps for legal, language, wording and functions reasons?

What function is related to North America?

        • CERO

No idea, I’ve seen software that as locked certain stuff in Europe, but works in North America and viceversa.
Like some printers who disabled the CD printing feature via firmware(Canon) for example.

The US site has version 2.10.3 of ViewNX2. Once installed the Picture Control Utility will also be updated to version 2.0.2.

If you run a software company as Microsoft and Google have learned, the European Union is quite protective of their consumers. Your team should always have the capability to make software changes to meet their legal requirements. In the case of Google, their search engine is free.

    Admin and all:
Wasn’t the I AM | ADVANCING firmware update page/plan supposed to come out yesterday? I still don’t see anything, do you? Thanks.

        Thanks Jorge!
I trust Peter, he might have heard this from a good source, perhaps folks in Melville have not been told yet.
