Nikon D4s spotted at the Olympics in Sochi

Nikon-D4s-at-the-Olympics
I just received this Nikon D4s picture from what appears to be a Nikon field office at the Winter Olympics in Sochi. The first pictures taken with the new camera also started to appear online (see the EXIF data on those photos: -1- | -2- | -3- | -4- | -5- | -6- | -7-). The D4s is rumored to be announced on February 11th in Europe. For all US readers, the official announcement will probably be tomorrow (Monday) around midnight EST. Stay tuned for detailed coverage.

Is that one of those 24MP 4K Nikon D4s bodies I’ve been hearing so much about pn other sites, lol ?

    • John Starr

4k video??? Are you serious? Go get a video camera. I wish they had never put video into DSLR’s, now we have kooks like you running around demanding stupid video functions.

      • Duarte Castelo Branco

are you retard? it’s better to have a camera that does it all than one designed for just one thing, also, times are changing. magazines like harper’s bazaar have already used frames out red cameras to be the covers of magazines (yes they shoot what is called cinephotography). Photography and video are becoming one. Just like the cameras

      • broxibear

        Hi John,
It’s tongue in cheek sarcasm related to a well known blogger who published an article saying the D4s would have 24MP. Like it or not 4K will be in future Nikon bodies even if not in the D4s. There will be people who use it and people who don’t…I have various functions on my cameras I don’t use, but they come as part of the camera.
I am a “kook” but not in the way you think, lol.

        Take care.

        • John Starr

I know a guy who makes a great deal of his income from shooting weddings, and now all these people want video at their weddings, and don’t think it should cost more with the package that was already given to them, cause all you have to do is flip a switch and BAM! you have video. Not everyone has the time or the software to sit around and edit movies. Especially when you are strictly a photographer. I’m not a videographer, I’m a photographer. So thanks to Nikon for putting a stupid function into what is SUPPOSED to be a still camera.

          • Mugi

Well,,,from Film to Digital was a bigger move anyway, so I get your point, but then maybe you are barking at the wrong tree.

  • JamesX

We really need to keep our eyes open on the photos of Sochi Olympics…

  • Ernie

    I want a 24 megapixel Df.

    • ereshoping

That will be the Df2 available in 8 months, with slightly different battery and case. Oh and a new standard lens (because Nikon are really good with standard lenses). Price – think of a figure(3digits, double it, then square root it – should be close :)

      • David Weinehall

I think you mean “square it”. Otherwise It’d end up costing, at most, sqrt(999*2), which is roughly 45. And no matter if that’s 45 USD, 45 GBP or 45 EUR that’s pretty cheap for a DSLR :)

        • ereshoping

Fair point. Back to school for a maths class or 2 :)

      • John Starr

What do you know about a Df2 in 8 months. They just released the Df. My god you people are whackos.

        • ereshoping

Relax. It was supposed to be a lighthearted comment.

    • John Starr

Go make one then. You kook.

    • not_again

Great idea – why not a “retro” cam for the current sensors? i.e. D800e becomes a Df… a D4S becomes a Df… seriously good idea. An of course – again not joking – a 1:2.0 lens to make it less heavy

  • Jay Pike

    Looks like a D4s “Selfie”….

    • Aldo

people in the background are like “alright people… we ain’t getting enough hype out of this 4ds… take a half body shot and upload it to nikon rumors… that should help a bit.”

  • AM

I’m watching the Olympics on TV right now and all I see is white lenses.
    Where are those Nikons anyway?

    • broxibear

That’s just snow AM…they’re black underneath.

    • Aldo

We wanna believe nikon is in par with canon… but the truth is that canon is a monster. Their lens variety and numbers are overwhelming.

      • j k

I believe otherwise and not even from a fanboy perspective.

I prefer the handling of Nikons bodies, I am very satisfied with my lenses, speedlights etc.

Canon would be a downgrade for me.

Numbers mean nothing to me, your comment is biased.

      • EJP

Super Bowl looked like about 9 white lenses for every black lens.

        • Peter

Superbowl sponsored by Canon. Go figure?

      • Not Aldo

Go sell your equipment and move to Canon. There’s no reason for you to keep your Nikon gear as you’ve concluded that Canon is a “monster” and that is “overwhelming”. Buh-bye!

        • AM

But Justin Bieber outsells Placido Domingo hands down. Does that mean that we all should listen to the crap JB sings?

          • Aldo

I don’t think Canon is as terrible as JB… but that’s a good example of what I mean nonetheless.

        • Aldo

I’m happy with nikon… but facts are facts.

          • j k

What exactly are the facts proving?

            • Aldo

That canon sells more… and that there are more canon cameras out there. But I’m sure you already knew that, so what’s your point?

            • Michal Zdunek

I think Tata sells more cars than Mercedes… does that make Tata the better car ?

            • Aldo

I’m not disputing which is better. I’ll leave that in the air… Canon is bigger… nikon is still the underdog… even if you like their cameras better. As for your comparison tata and mercedes, canon and nikon…. well lets just say you would have failed the sat’s.

            • Michal Zdunek

              well… Tata car = 4 wheels + 1 steering wheel, Mercedes = 4 wheels + 1 steering wheel,
              sounds legit to me…

              Troll !

            • Aldo

              ok.

            • j k

Actually, I was just trying to get a grasp on your point. So strictly numbers then sure..Canon sells more. You also mentioned lens variety and that starts to suggest it is more than just numbers. I was asking for clarification that is all not a jab.

      • DL

        1D4 is a crop sensor. so why not use it with a 300 instead of a 400…a 400 instead of a 500… and you’ll still have 10fps

      • Naval Gunfire

I don’t think there is much difference between Canon and Nikon when it comes to shooting sports with their flagship models these days. Both have great performance, both have the lenses that professional sports shooters need and both are great systems in the right hands.

Canon did autofocus right when it was introduced way back when whereas Nikon kinda didn’t so sports shooters all switched to Canon and the difference between Canon and Nikon has never really been great enough since then to make them sell up and jump ship. It just goes to show how the implementation of (certain) new technology into cameras is extremely important when it comes to capturing market share for the next thirty years.

        • Ornery

Nikon lost a lot to the original 1D and 1DII/N. It was faster and wider (1.3 vs 1.5) than the D1/h and D2/h. The D3/s/4 helped recover some organizations. But most have had their budgets cut so much they can’t afford to go back to Nikon.

          • Ray

Lol mate these new flagships it’s just advertise for newbie photographers… I’m working photojournalist in London, and so far I know only a couple of people whom have top level Canon or Nikon flagship rest of us have older DSRL or not even flagship camera. Battle between Nikon and Canon if they have enough money half of them change to Nikon instead of Canon, but deference between Nikon and Canon flagship camera is so small that it’s basally no point to do this ….

        • Serious Gearhead

Canon did autofocus wrong. They changed their lens mount and screwed all their long-time customers. Today, Canon AF and Nikon AF are about the same. Nikon did what Canon couldn’t do – they made their old lens mount work. AF has always been a gamble and still is no matter how high level a camera you buy. You will never get 100% of what you focus on – unlike manual focus which always goes where you put it.

      • Peter

        Last Olympics in 2012: http://web500.us/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/canon-nikon.jpg

That say enough? It’s pretty close to 50/50 if you’re looking @ colors of lenses. And I know some Canon shooters who’ll paint their lenses black, but not Nikon shooters who’ll paint theirs white. Only people who shit on one system are wannabe photographers who worry more about brand than getting the shot.

        • tim

2012? it says 2008 on the banner lol

          • Peter

My bad! At the 2008 Olympics (not the Winter, but the larger one)!

    • Sports

Lots of white lenses, that’s true.
How many red bodies did you spot? (That would be all those Nikon entry level bodies.)

    • G0nzo

thats what i love at the summer olympics (too), the sprint events ^^, but i miss to spot them at the winter olympics…what games are the in?

    • j k

nikon does make white lenses. However you are probably seeing canons regardless

    • http://www.gordonmoat.com/ Gordon Moat

Scott Kelby didn’t take any to Sochi. :P

  • olidie

You’ll even be seeing lots of pictures on the web and in the papers taken with the D4s during the Sotchi Games and you won’t even recognize them ;-)

  • Miloš Bekić

if it has 4k would it be cool to be named D4k, not just 4s

    • AM

      D4k = D4000 = entry-level DX.

  • orpickaname

    The “s” for Sochi.

  • Aldo

I keep hearing a lot of people asking for 4k… yet I don’t see it in the market. The general public is still figuring out the differences between 720p, 1080p, 1080i… not to mention you need at least a 55 inch tv to really perceive ultra hd video. HD programming is still choppy and highly compressed for the most part. Ultra HD programming is almost non existent. I think at this time 4k is more of a novelty rather than something useful. Make it 6k we won’t have to take pictures anymore… we can just watch a video and get our stills in post. HOW BORING.

    • Magnus

Panasonic just came out with the GH4. 4k and 1080 at 96fps. I agree with your point Aldo, but you forget to mention that Sony and others are selling 4k, and pushing it in all their models. The average consumer may not know the difference between 720p and 4k, but if you can make them believe that they need 4k, it creates demand, and Nikon looks like losers.
All the arguments for “if you’re shooting video, buy a video camera” are legitimate. I work for a video production company that has the FS700, BMPC, and other dedicated video recorders. BUT, company’s that succeed in this market are companies with the specs. Right now on a $2000 budget the Panasonic GH4 has a lot better specs than a D7100. And to the masses that’s all that matters.
By the way, I personally think that Nikon lost a generation of camera buyers because of the 5d Mark II manual exposure control. I watched my whole class switch to Canon for that very reason.

      Long live Nikon.

      • Aldo

I agree with most of what you said. However, there is a lot of experimentation being implemented. A lot of formats/standards have come and gone. As we see the technological advances unfold, we can only guess who will come on top, or who is making the right moves. I agree nikon is falling behind in the video department, but I wouldn’t go as far as to say “nikon looks like losers”. After all, their fortE has always been stills. Otherwise who in their right mind would have purchased the d700 instead of the 5d mark 2 back then? Yes you could be right all together, but it may also be that nikon simply isn’t taking unnecessary risks. And in our current time (as I indicated above), there is no major use for ultra HD other than to flash you with specs, or convince you that you need it (as you pointed out). Thanks your sharing your thoughts… it brought some good ideas to the table.

        • mikeswitz

          is fortE pronounced fortY

          • Aldo

I pronounce it for-tay … but I looked it up and it seems that the correct pronunciation is identical to the word FORT.

            • mikeswitz

I was kidding. I think it can be pronounced either way, but not forty.

  • lan ban

    54mp 15 fps

    • John Starr

You are an absolute nut. May as well get a video camera and just select the best image. Why don’t you quit counting megapixels and turn that switch to single servo you whacko!

      • lan ban

why are you so scared? hysteria lol maybe because you can’t afford 54mp 15 fps 4K nikon YOU CHEAP F.CK of the self proclaimed photographers

  • Jorge

but has anyone spotted a working toilet?

  • Arch Brook
    • Rafa R

      exif does say D4s

      • Will

at least it takes pictures of std. def. tv sets

    • broxibear

      Nice catch Arch,
If ypu Google image search Robert Deutsch you’ll see a few more D4s images from Sochi by him.

            • DIEGO

I HOPE THIS IS JUST A PRE-PRODUCTION CAMERA BECAUSE I DOES NOT LOOK GOOD AT LEAST FOR MY STANDARS AND THE QUALITY YOU SUPOSE TO GIVE YOUR CLIENTS !!!

            • broxibear

              Hi DIEGO,
Be honest for a minute…how could you possibly know if these images were good quality or not unless you were sitting next to these photographers, taking the same image, with a similar lens and using the exact same settings on a Canon 1DX ?
Arch Brook found these on the web, noticed the exif data, and thought nikonrumors readers might want to se them…that’s all.
It’s not going to turn you into a bad photographer because you use a D3, D4, it’s not going to turn anyone into a better photographer because they use a D4s. It’s just a camera, and this is just a rumor site…why so serious as someone once said ?

            • Aldo

You are seriously attempting to shed some light to someone who types in all caps and has no clue what he/she is saying. There is hope in this world.

            • broxibear

              Lol…there’s always hope Aldo.

            • peterortphoto

I didn’t even read the comment since it was in all caps.

            • Nate

All caps is a key that he’s typing from a computer that’s native language is not English which means Diego is bilingual.

            • Nate Crouch

All caps suggests that English is not his first language which means he’s bilingual (computers that don’t type English will type English when caps lock is on). I agree with him actually. The quality on the D4s is not all that great. Ok for small print or online but at 100% is hardly stellar. He must have noise control turned on. The noise on my D4 doesn’t need noise control and the images are much better quality.

            • DIEGO

HI BROXIBEAR I AM A NIKON SHOOTER AND I HAD ALL THE CAMARAS SINCE THE D3 CAME OUT AND I DO SOMETIMES THINGS IN NIKON SCHOOL I AM VERY INTERESTED IN THAT NIKON PROVIDE US ( NIKON USERS ) WITH THE BEST EQUIPMENT SO WE CAN DO OUR JOB THE BEST WAY POSSIBLE. I AM AGREE WITH YOU THAT ARE ONLY CAMERAS AND THE PHOTOGRAPHER ISN THE IMPORTANT BUT WHEN YOU GO OUT THERE AND YOU HAVE TO PUSH THE CAMARA WITH HIGH ISO, FAST MOVING OBJETS ( PLAYERS) IN BAD CONDITIONS AND YOU MISS A LOT OF SHOOTS. I THINK IS NOT GOOD FOR OUR JOB AND EVEN MORE AFTER PAYING 5500 €. ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THIS PICTURES I WENT TO WEB WHERE THIS PICTURES ARE AND DOWNLOAD IT IN FULL RESOLUTION SAME OF THEM AT 33 MB AND FOR ME THEY LOOK MOST OF THEM BAD BETTER WB THAN MY D4 AND BETTER SKIN TONES AND COLORS BUT BAD IN SHARPNESS FOR MY TASTE. I NEVER WANT IT TO PUT DOWN NIKON JUST COMENT WHAT I FELT AND WHAT I SAW. BY THE WAY I WENT TO LONDON SUMMER OLYMPICS AND I THINK THAT I KNOW THE TYPE OF LIGHTING THAT ARE SET AT THESE EVENTS, THE LIGHT IT IS GREAT.

            • juanillo_76

I am with DIEGO on this… not very impressed with the pics (compared with D4), but we have to wait until full res samples are available… or even better, after testing the camera in parallel with the D4 and D3s

            • broxibear

              Hi DIEGO,
One of the reasons I come to nikonrumors is to read the opinions of others. I understand what you’re saying, but don’t agree on some either.
Unless you had a direct comparison with a 1DX judging the quality is impossible.
And remember we’ve no idea what has been done to these images and how they were shot beyond the exif data, the exif data suggests they were medium jpegs and saved on medium photoshop quality level.
Maybe this Canon 1DX image from Sochi shot at 1/790 sec, f/2.8, ISO 640 on the ice will show why you shouldn’t read too much into these type of published images…

P.S. where did you get the 33MB file from ?

            • Naval Gunfire

Sports photography doesn’t lend itself well to pixel peeping. When you are shooting an image that will be a half page in a newspaper the little imperfections in an image aren’t as important. When I used to shoot sports a slightly soft image of the right moment would always be chosen by the photo editor before a sharper image of the wrong moment, especially if nobody else got that shot.

            • DIEGO

HI BROXIBEAR I AM AGREE IN A LOT OF THING YOU SAID I HAVE TO GO OUT FOR A SHOOTING BUT IF YOU SEND ME YOUR MAIL I WILL SENDO YOU A PICTURE IN HIGH RESOLUTION WITH 31 MB ACEPTABLE NOT ACTION. AND I WILL TRY TO EXPLAIN MY POINT OF VIEW

              THANKS FOR YOU GOOD REPLAY

            • broxibear

              Hi Diego,
Send the file to Peter (admin) I’m sure he’d be interested in looking at a D4s file too…or have I misunderstood you and it’s a D4 file ?

            • Ornery

All of the files show significant jpg artifacts. Most likely they were heavily compressed for quick transmission. That said the noise characteristics don’t seem to show any real improvement over the D3s/D4.

            • samseite

it’s 200kb jpeg by the way.

            • Nate

I agree with Diego. Look at 100% and not too good. Alright for a very small image for print and online but crap at 100%. Most likely has Noise control turned way up. D4 noise is so good I turn it off. Not sure why a D4s would look worse than the files my D4 takes at 12,800 ISO.

            • Marc W.

I agree, “that” photo doesn’t look good. But then again, not every photo produced by everyone on all cameras are amazing photos.

            • Marc W.
            • broxibear

              Hi Marc,
Usually the GPS files show up with an actual map in regex, I think it’s just added by the photographer in the metadata field.
Doesn’t mean it’s not in the D4s, it colud be turned off.

            • Marc W.

You’re probably right. I opened up that file and a known GPS enabled jpg and I see a big difference.

    • Marc W.
  • photographer4

    Nikon D4s pictures not impressed

  • G0nzo

That blurry cam in the background is the new Canon EOS2d, fyi.

  • j k

probably not even fake but I swear the “s” looks to be of more contrast than the other white in the photo…after a 2 minute stare of course.

  • DL

cue all the bottom feeders doing engagement photos of ugly couples whose waist sizes are longer than their height…coming in to talk about “how many white lenses” at the olympics. As if that somehow translates into to something meaningful to you having a canon and a “Photography page” on facebook

    • j k

And generalizing and bashing people based on their looks translates to something meaningful?

      • DL

…and trying to elevate yourself if you own a canon and bash anyone who owns a nikon or anything else because some news agency happens to have assigned you a canon translates to something meaningful by….?

You know they are probably the 1D4 so they can have a crop sensor and save on getting 300mm’s instead of 400mm…and 400mm instead of 500mm…etcetc.. but let fanbois continue to get giddy and think they are better because someone else is doing something far better than they ever will with the same brand of camera

        • desmo

you assume he is good enough to be assigned anything.

          • Jay Pike

Really? You have to be “good” to be assigned a camera by the vendor’s professional services at a major event? Last I checked on NPS’s site, it was more of a “first come, first served” basis… Now, I will say that the big news agencies (Getty, AP, etc) will reserve blocks of camera equiptment on behalf of their photographers….

        • Jay Pike

I’m also MASSIVELY conflicted by the observations here that suggest that any camera body used at the Olympics by a pro photographer is configured to put out the best quality image…

With the deadlines and push for instant publications at these events, you barely have enough time to grab a drink of water or use the biffy before your editor is texting you asking for the images that correlate to the event they just saw on the tele…

Add to that that they are using “loaner” gear, mostly, from the pro services booths by whichever camera vendor their employer told them to stop by and pick up from.

NPS just sets each body back to defaults when they get them back in before they toss them back into the loaner pool…

As always, it comes down to some simple physics: distance from subject, glass, and film sensitivity…

Their end product quality still remains the same (as always): 2×3″ image for print or web or 4×6 for feature article… a 33mb image does no one any good…

      • Jay Pike

I’m loving the generalization that the worthyness of any given photographer’s opinion is based on the wasteline of their clientel… and I’ve been operating under the, now obviously wrong, assumption that value was related to finance (the better photographers get paid more)…

I for one would greatly appreciate the initial poster convincing all other pro photographers to place statements like: “Now only accepting clients with size 0 waists or smaller” on their websites.

There are those large clients out there that do have big pocket books too….

  • Beso

I don’t know the specifics of the images posted but they seem a bit soft to me. I recognize these are taken of athletes performing but the D4 and now D4s’s claim to fame is supposed to be high frame rate, excellent fast focus, and geared for action. Way to early to judge but I hope the initial images are not reflective of the camera’s capability.

  • bman

Nice green cast to the photo’s, they must be from a Nikon :)

    • Ernesto Quintero

I’m looking at her on a 15.4″ iMac Pro retina display, nice.

    • UA

This is definitely the best 1:1 pixel ratio ISO6400 quality I have seen (D800 is about same, when cropped to same mpix). Amazing. I think my old D90 had similar quality on ISO800, and it was totally usable on anything.

I start to consider this as be better camera for me than D800. Gotta start saving, my D700 has seen enough life already.

      • UA

Oh, it was slightly downsized (or cropped?). Still, amazing.

      • And remember, this is probably a jpeg straight out of camera. Raw conversion will/can be much cleaner.

  • kparseg

Have you guys heard that Nikon is the exclusive supplier of photo and lightning equipment for the Olympic games? Back in 2013 Nikon won a tender and supplied ~2 million dollar equipment for 1 ruble (~0.03 USD). So, the equipment Nikon supplied included 112 D4 bodies, 287 different lenses (from ultrawide to supertele), 40 flashes, 80 teleconverters and some other equipment. Canon representative confirmed that Canon participated in the tender but didn’t win it. Photogs who got this equipment will be given the best places to take the images.

Here’s the link you can translate in Google http://www.nikonclub.ru/blog/sobytiya/1297.html (doesn’t do it very well, though).

First part may be right. Second part wrong. Priority still goes the pool photographers here, no matter what they’re using.

  • TheInconvenientRuth

Did no one else spot that D500 on the counter?

    • desmo

so they skipped the D400 altogether? :(

Judging from this forum, the future of photography looks sooo bright. I can’t wait ’til cameras have 100 megapixels and shoot at 20 fps, cause then I could just let the shutter roll and then select an image that looks good. Oh and I will only need a 50mm lens, cause with 100 megapixels I can crop in soooo much that it would be like I have a 3000mm lens. I cannot wait for the new iphone 16 comes out den I could HDR the heck out of my girlfriend and make it look like I painted it instead. I am such whiny spoiled brat, so I know you can give me all of this. Try photographing owls in flight 10 years ago with a manual camera. Oh ya, I still do that, cause it’s more of an art. WHat a bunch of spoiled kooks!

    • Aldo

      I would go for a 28mm or 35mm instead of that 50mm

      Hi John,
You’re right in what you say, but you’ve got to remember many have never known anything but digital…not only in relation to photography but everything. What that does is it conditions them into thinking technology should do this or that rather than the person, hence the constant lust for updates.
Yes many of them are “a bunch of spoiled kooks”, but they don’t understand that they are…and they also don’t care.
You want to find out if someone can take pictures or not, give them a body, a 50mm, one roll of HP5, send them on a shoot and have a look at their contact sheet when they get back.

make sure cry, and be hurt and devastated, and eat ice cream on a couch for days, and then write a song about it .

Why people talks about 24Mp ??? that’s a totally non sense.
“S” version (second edition) always keep the same sensor, it’s a optimisation not a modification version.
D3s has the D3 sensor for example, not the same quality image but the same sensor (my english is not very good sorry, so i’m not able to explain scientifically lol), but trust me you can improve the image quality with the same sensor
The best example in other context is D3x and Alpha 900 ^^

    • desmo

D3 and D3s are different sensors,
both are 12mp but different sensors,

d4s? d4? d3s? photographer only… But Kencockwell says one only ever needs 10 megapixel… but then in his d4 article he says the same shit in the d4s article.. did he copy paste? IM CONFUSED… SO MUCH MARKETING… I DID LOOK AT THOSE PHOTOS… YOU COULD DO THAT WITH A GOOD LENS AND A D3000…. DO I GET A D4S? or keep my d4 or d3s? or sell d4 keep d3s… cause TBH there is such a minimal difference between the d3s and d4 when it comes to photography is it worth the money? I mean You can get a minty d3s for 3k-3.5 and now a new d4s for 6k? +taxes so 3k… extra for video and….. is the image quality and LL and clean ISO such a huge difference? …. but KENcockwell keeps saying you only ever need 10 megapixel… and that he even downgrades that for his postprocessing. Sorry for caps. Im just confused… money isn’t a factor.. but either is paying for nothing… EI APPLE APPLE APPLE is Nikon turning into APPLE with the amazing upgrades. Cause difference between a d2xs and d3s is day and night difference from d3s and d4 is … 4pm to 5pm? lol anyway im done whining. ALSO why is response time, startup and battery SO much better on older d3s vrs d4.

Guys, those are very bad examples of pics. At ISO6400, they should own, but they look like went thought 3 passes of noise reduction. This is compression, the large one is only 800KB vs the 10-12MB it should have coming out of the camera…

    • ………………………………….

    • broxibear

You’re right MasterGoa…some people are not thinking straight before commenting on these images…or they’re just trolling.
      What can you do ?

    • G0nzo

that’s what i was thinking about…after i saw the first image.

  • Mike

    Admin! D4s listed at B&H.

  • koenshaku

I haven’t seen the real specs of this camera yet, but if they leaked specs are true it is yawn worthy as an upgrade to the D4. Which was already excellent this doesn’t do much else and may be unworthy of the D4S tag unless they overhauled the focusing system with more cross type points or something.

    D4s with CCD-sensor :)) CMOS sucks

  • Pablo

    D4s with CCD-sensor :))

Likely the only improvement in terms of video will be 1080p at 60fps.

I highly doubt there will be a 24Mp sensor, Nikon probably reserves that for the D5 or later models. Also 4k video is highly unlikely, given that the Canon 1DC costs 10k.

still doesn’t tell us how many MP the D4s is

      • Marcel Speta

it does… i found file called “usatsi_7721615.jpg” and based on resolution it seems exactly like Medium JPG size from 16Mpx sensor…. i just checked D4 manual how many pixels x and y it has …
so in my eyes it is 16Mpx … but who knows if they didn’t crop them to confuse public ;-)
