Good news: Nikon “lens only” rebates are coming back

NIKKOR-LENSES
Update: the lens only rebates are now live.

Good news: the Nikon US "lens only" rebates are coming back! I do not have the details, but the savings should be similar to last year's rebates (no need to purchase a Nikon DSLR body in order to qualify. The program is not yet available online. Check back on NikonRumors this weekend for more details.

  • Joven

I just squealed…. but in a manly way.

  • Mark

Are these retro active like the ones that Canon offers currentyl?

    • Gary

Will a similar offer be available in Europe?

      • Jonathan

Did you find something similar in Europe?
I plan to buy the 50mm 1.4G and ship it through myus.com.

  • Young

Any information about starting time of this rebates?

    • http://nikonrumors.com/ Nikon Rumors

      check back here this weekend

      • Young

Great! Hope 14-24mm lens can be included and this rebate can start very soon. I am planning purchase this lens before 20th.

        • Boosh

I plan to get one as well, money is set aside waiting for the sale to start, hope it will be more than $200 off this year.

        • Mansgame

You’ll like it a lot. Just don’t be butterfingers with it!

  • manhattanboy

Give me the 300 f4 rebate…its going to be replaced, lets at least discount the current model.

  • Micycle

Great to hear. I was this close to spending my money on a Fuji X-E2, but want to pick up the 70-200 f4. Hope it’s on the list.

  • dgr

How about $350 off the new 80-400…..would be nice.

    • Mansgame

yeah that lens is just way too expensive for an Everyman lens.

      • rt-photography

$1000 price increase over last model. way to much. I can name a few other lenses that are way too expensive as well.

        • Mansgame

I was looking forward to that lens but it was just a shock that a refurbished 70-200 VRII Plus a 2x converter would be cheaper and much cheaper if you went with a Tamron 2x SP or Kenko which can be had for $230 and is not that much worse than the Nikon. Granted it won’t be as sharp as the 80-400 at 400mm but for a finite budget, it’s a more robust choice.

  • Micycle

Nikon’s trying to make the FY13 numbers look better with a last minute revenue spike. Works for me.

    • Rich Mars

The fiscal year is over so this has no value to them, maybe boosts their first quarter sales.

      • Micycle

Nikon’s fiscal year ends at the end of March.

  • TrP

    Can’t wait…I’ve been waiting, lol…

  • whisky

love to see them offer discounts on the Nikon 1 lens line-up too.

  • joephoto

I was going to buy the new sigma 24-105 f4 but they keep delaying it. Their loss!! If this is true, I will get what I really want… Nikkor 24-70 f 2.8

  • guest

I know that when I can look through a Nikon lens catalog and not see a single thing I want I’ve made some kind of breakthrough.

    • Mansgame

      or already bought it all.

  • Nikonhead

My next lens will be the Sigma 50mm f/1.4 Art.

  • Daf

Wish Nikon UK would do stuff like this. It’s usually low end gearsband/or in combination with a body. They don’t treat existing customers well.

  • Kevin

    the new 35mm 1.8!

  • saywhatuwill

Yay! Can’t wait to see what they have to offer.

  • Steve

Damn I just bought a 85 1.4G two days ago.

    • saywhatuwill

Return it and wait. By the way, nice lens. I purchased mine last year during their lens only rebate.

    • Andy

Stores are often good about this sort of thing. I’d ring ‘em and ask.

    • Steve

I emailed the retailer and this is what they wrote back.

“We will honor any price drop if its the same item and it is still with in 30 day from when the order was placed. If you see that it drops in price please let us know so that we can refund you the difference.”

      So good news.

      • Mark

        Who’s your retailer?

        • Steve

          B&H

  • Neopulse

Kinda surprised at the timing. Gotta buy another 85mm f/1.4G

  • amanda

Was about to buy a new 70-200, figured I’d check with the nikon oracle before giving B+H my payment info. +1 squealing, -1 on manliness.

  • http://www.paddlinglight.com Bryan Hansel

    Crud. I just bought a 14-24!

  • Jonathan Lin

There’s a refurb 24-70 on buydig, should I jump on that or wait for this? How low will this one go for the 24-70?

    • Shaun V

I would wait if I were you. I purchased a 24-70mm last year when Nikon had their lens only rebates. It was $200 off.

      • Jonathan Lin

Hmm, how much did it come out to be?

      • Jonathan Lin

The refurb one is at little under 1500 right now

      • http://nikonrumors.com/ Nikon Rumors

I think the 24-70mm lens will not be part of the rabates.

  • Jiusi
  • TrP

Just check slickdeals and they are talking about the rebates in pretty good detail. Waiting on nikon rumors to update, since tonight things kick off.

    • http://nikonrumors.com/ Nikon Rumors

      Yes, check back at midnight.

  • Vidya Shankar

    No 24-70 or 70-200. That’s disappointing

  • Huan Yang

Well, if Adorama is correct, I am quite disappointed with this lens only rebates. No 14-24 and not even one of the holy trinity.
