The refurb D7100 looks good. I wish Nikon would upgrade its buffer like it did for the D3.

    • Neopulse

Ya never know. Maybe if the D400 keeps being delayed they might do that.

      • orpickaname

It isn’t delayed if it never comes. ;)

        • Neopulse

Yeah ya say that now of course. They also said the same thing to the D700 update and an affordable full-frame camera in a D7000 body and guess what, it happened. And you can backtrack here if you want to read them all.

they should be discounting the 105 VR more than 50 bucks if you ask me.. I just went through 3 brand new ones that had MASSIVE squeaking when hitting the end of the focus range when manually focusing. For any other lens, that would be ok, i guess, as manual focus isn’t as often used and you aren’t potentially 1 foot from a skiddish subject. It’s unbelievable that THAT is a problem with these lenses. It’s such a stupid thing. Yeah a lot of people will say so what, but when you pay 900 bucks for a very specialized lens, it better work without STUPID problems. i finally bought used one that was made in Japan. MUCH better. Seems to focus faster and more accurately than the 3 new ones a tried as well. what’s going on with Nikon’s production??????

    • IslandNature

Where are the new ones made? I’ve got a built in Japan version and love it, well built, good quality.

      • anon

New ones are from China. They stopped Japan production sometime between 2008 and 2010 or so… At least according to KR. not sure if he is 100% correct on the timing or not

I believe KR says that they are made in “Red China”, to be precise. lol!

  • Reggie

You can buy 2 of those same cards individually for less.

    • Reggie

My mistake, I was looking at 800x cards.

  • Mansgame

I wonder if the Sigma Bigma discount is because the Tamron 150-600 is about to be available.

  • manhattanboy

Let’s hope there are different deals each week for the rest of the year. That would be sweet!!

  • Spy Black

$969.00 for a Sigma macro lens? Not that it’s a bad lens, but it has no stabilization and is about 6 years old. The Tamron macro goes for $80 more than the “sale price” Sigma, is a newer lens, and has stabilization.

    • The Wayne

If your referring to the Sigma 105mm macro, check the specs again. It does have OS and it’s only about 3 years old.

      • Spy Black

Ah yes, I confused it with the previous model.

    • rt-photography

I agree. I think is on a roll with good stuff but almost a grand for the macro lens. Thats crazy. I wouldnt pay more than $600 the most. Id take the tokina with no vr before the sigma. When i was looking to buy i did so much research i was looking for a budget lens but relaized the nikon vr is the best hands down.

      • Spy Black

I confused that lens with an earlier model, but it’s regular price is overtly high, the sale price is more along the lines of what it should cost. The 90mm Tamron is $80 more regularly.

        • rt-photography

Exactly. too high for “sale” just seems meh to me. I have the 85 1.8 so I could not see the logic in getting it. I was clearly leaning towards the Tokina the underrated and not heard lens thats stellar, or the nikon 105 AFD but opted for the 105 VR because of the bokeh and steller IQ for portraits. im not a macro fan but the DC’s high price and the 3 foot minimum focus is very limiting. it was a clear winner. portraits/macro/VR for $900. simple decision.

          • Patrick O’Connor

With the current discounts, I just bought the Sigma at $200 less than the Nikon. It was a tough choice but all the reviews only gave the Nikon a very slight advantage and only in a few areas.

I took some close-ups of pennies for my brother, who’s a buyer/seller, last night. For his purposes, I had to add extension tubes as well. I can’t complain a bit about its macro performance. Very sharp, excellent contrast and color. I’m planning on using it for portraits, as well, so we’ll see if I messed up or not…

            • rt-photography

its a very capable lens. congrats on your purchase. Im not really into macro except when I shoot ring shots at weddings . but I prefer the 105mm macro to the 105dc for portraits. it lacks nothing in terms of sharpness or bokeh. and the very close minimum focus is a HUGE advantage over the very limiting and sometimes very critical 3 feet minimum the DC has. and its more expensive. the 105VR is no slouch. I owned the older sigma (no OS) and it was soft till f/3.5-4. not sure how well the new handles. hope youre happy with it

  • Joven

I hope they do a discount on lenses like they did last year. A nice discount on a wide variety of lenses and didn’t require you to buy a camera. I’d buy an 85mm 1.4 that very minute.

  • rt-photography

The lexar cards can be bought at amazon at the same price. No bullshit “sale” and “limited quantity” crap bh is noting.

  • Neopulse

New 105mm ART lens coming up?

  • miki

    D600 it’s mine :-DDDD

    • IslandNature

Don’t do it – trust me. Spend the extra and get a D610, not worth the hassle. Unless you enjoy wet cleaning your sensor every 1000 actuations or excessive spot cleaning in Lightroom. After a year of frustration, shutter replacement, etc. Nikon took it back.

      • Patrick O’Connor

I’ve had my D600 since December of 2012. Only had to wet clean it a couple more times than my previous camera that didn’t have any issues. I guess it’s a crap shoot.

    • Mansgame

It’s a damn good price for a full frame camera that’s got the latest sensor. I’d pick it at this price over the D7100 every day but just realize that you will have to deal with cleaning it. There is no getting around it.

    • Turkey leg

That lens is a 2-legged sheep dog; no bargain there, especially when attached to the 2 missing legs.

      • Patrick O’Connor

I’ve never had any complaints with it. Maybe I’m not as discriminating as some. My Australian Shepherd thought your analogy was funny, though. ;-)

  • Ric

When will the D400 see a discount?
    never gets old
