A user-friendly, ergonomically designed long zoom camera, the Nikon COOLPIX L830 gives users the power to easily preserve life’s precious moments in incredible detail. The L830’s astounding zoom capabilities stem from its super telephoto lens that provides a 34X optical zoom range and an unbelievable 68X Dynamic Fine Zoom* range. The fear of camera shake and the blurry photos that result from it, especially when shooting at super telephoto distances, are minimized thanks to the L830’s Lens-shift Vibration Reduction (VR) system and new Hybrid VR system when shooting videos. From the full-frame action shot captured from the sidelines to a close-up of the player’s expression mid-play, the photographic possibilities are endless.

“…which nobody on this blog cares”

    ~ Quote of 2014

    • Up $#!t’s creek!

I love the bluntness of that comment. I don’t understand why they need to differentiate the P&S cameras so much with so little price diff. Just make one or two and call it a day…

They’re all waiting for the Coolpix D400

No, silly. Remember, they’re Nikons, so they’re actually micro brews.

LOL! Thanks, Peter and Brent for getting my day started with a smile.

Nikon’s problem is that potential customers don’t care either. Insufficient zoom range and lack of colors are not the problem with the market. It’s the fact that smart phones are more convenient and good enough for Instagram and Facebook.

Anyway thank you for commenting about it as another Nikon news, and letting us know so we can make the choice of knowing more or ignore :)

Nice to see this site isn’t getting just a dSLR fanweb. Thanks for your work!

If you look at the specs of these cameras, they’re either exactly the same or slightly inferior to the models they replace and at a higher price, since the models they replace are now being sold at discount.

So what was the point? Why even bother? Even for Nikon, this was an incredibly lame release. There’s nothing here of any interest whatsoever.

I also noticed that none of these new models are on the Japan site as yet (they are on the International site along with some other new models). The Japan site has only 9 Coolpix models listed. (The U.S. site has 26, although 4 of those are really discontinued and the International site has 32, with 1 actually discontinued.)

Considering that the Yen is now 104.69 to the US Dollar, with the USD 33% higher than 2012 (although still 12.9% lower than 2007), any price increase is adding insult to injury.
