Nikon released Capture NX 2.4.0 and new firmware update 1.21 for the Nikon 1 V1 mirrorless camera. List of modifications in those releases:

Capture NX 2.4.0

Modifications that apply to both the Windows and Macintosh versions

  • Support for RAW images captured with the Nikon 1 J3 and Nikon 1 S1 has been added.
  • The following modifications have been made to White Balance in the Camera Settings portion of the Develop section in the Edit List palette.
    -     Underwater can now be selected from New WB. However, Underwater can only be selected for RAW images captured with a camera that supports Underwater white balance.
    -     Resulting colors have been corrected when Flash was selected from New WB for RAW images captured with the Nikon 1 V2.
  • An issue that, in some rare cases, prevented display of some JPEG images has been resolved.

Additional modifications to the Windows version

  • Compatibility with 64- and 32-bit Windows 8, Windows 8 Pro, and Windows 8 Enterprise has been added. Proper operation has been confirmed with use in desktop mode. Touch screen operations are not supported.

Additional modifications to the Macintosh version

  • Support for high-resolution display on Macintosh computers with a built-in Retina display has been added. However, this applies only to image display in the image window.

That v1 firmware is so weak. One big issue that needed fixing was providing the ability to turn of auto preview in the EVF.

Rubbish. NX2 is a brilliant product as you would know if you’d ever used it.

It should be called Incipient Carpal Tunnel 2.4.0.

Ha, Ha, I have exactly the same problem with Photo$hop CS4 thanks to Adobe’s failure to implement the RH mouse control even after so many versions of their software. Thankfully, NX2 works properly and isn’t dependent on amateur bought in software e.g. Photo$hop’s raw converter – Raw Shooter.

How about Camera Control 2 support for OS X 10.8? Hrmmm…?

Finally we have a Capture NX2 build that can install on OS X 10.8!

Downloaded 2.4 and ran the installer. Installer instructed me to deinstall version 2.3 first. Started 2.3 and recorded the key. Deinstalled version 2.3. Executed the installer for 2.4 and attempted to run 2.4. 2.4 asks me to enter my key from the previous version. I enter the key and it tells me the key is invalid. Cannot run 2.4

So this new version is not a free upgrade for existing users of version 2.3? The linked Nikon support article says that it is. You should contact Nikon support, if it still does not work.

Upgrade worked fine for me. As Joe suggests, try contacting support.
