More Nikon 1 J2 and Nikkor 11-27.5mm f/3.5-5.6 images

Few more images of the new Nikon 1 J2 camera and Nikkor 11-27.5mm f/3.5-5.6 lens. Again, no big surprises with the J2 - even the back of the camera looks identical to the J1:

I have a feeling they’re going to incorporate the V1 into the J1. Upgrade the screen, etc.

The only difference I can spot is that the mode dial now has five instead of four settings. The symbol under the green one is new.

So why bother? and where’s the V2? How about a Z1 Nikon?

  • Bio

    Could it be WiFi?

The actual dial is different (texture–more Canon-like), the mode dial has 5 settings–wish the stills (green) mode was first, and the four buttons are very different (same functions). I like old buttons better personally. Why change something that works very well Nikon?
C’Mon Nikon Rumors, you’re supposed to be more positive about the Nikon 1. The camera takes a beating everywhere else.

The new symbol on the mode dial looks like a camera-icon with the letter ‘C’ behind it. Maybe a new ‘custom’ mode? Also the ring around the d-pad has a different texture.

It means Creative mode – creativ filter mode i suppose.

        Canon mode

Do we – or rather does admin – have any info on the specs yet?

They need to add more filter effects… Like the grd…

  • Dmitry

Maybe its at least 12 og 16mpx?

What – no full frame ?!?!

    YYYYYAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN

16 MP, 12800ISO, VR on sensor, 920k LCD, GPS, filter effects, bigger buffer, less sensitive dial, lighter, thinner

If its 16 megapixel I will most definitely upgrade my J1 to J2 next year. “Im holding my thumbs” as we say in Sweden :)

Given that the Sony RX100 has the same sizes sensor and 20MP, it would be my guess that this would be the new resolution. (Funny how the RX100 gets rave reviews despite being essentially like a J1 with kit lens, same price, and too many pixels. It is very small though.) The RX100’s f1.8 lens and mode dial are key, even though the lens gets slow really fast.

I don’t see the point of the 11-27 — is it just the 10-30 with more honest labeling?

The RX100-sensor doesn’t have the phasedetection af-points integrated. If the Nikon 1 J1 has a new sensor, which I doubt, it will probably come from the current supplier Aptina.

Mirrorless rumors just posted the specs of the Nikon 1 J2!
Looks like a very small update. It is more like a Nikon 1 J1.2 .
They just add a creative(filter) mode and updated the screen, same old sensor.
    Too bad :-(

Dear Nikon….I am a paying consumer…I will not buy this camera. Something about those woefully low MP does not justify me spending 800 plus. Hello Sony, Hello Fuji.

No APSC size, hotshoes cannot put sbxxx flash.
Like a toy compare to Canon EOS M.

I think the sensor has no aspect ratio, make circular photos. In post-production you trim to 1:1 3:2 4:3 or whatever you want

  • Niko2pat

Pay attention to the picture where you see the sensor V1 J1. What are the differences?

Or maybe not and I see a reflection of the protective glass. What do you think?
