Vote for the “Imagine the Nikon D4″ contest winner

I received a total of 69 entries for the “Imagine the Nikon D4″ contest where you can win a ThinkTankPhoto Airport Airstream roller. I decided to allow readers to vote on all 69 entries instead of me selecting the top 20. All entries can be seen on flickr. Simply note the picture number (#) in the title and vote for that number (for example if you like "Imagine the Nikon D4" contest (#67)" you will vote for #67). The poll is embedded after this slideshow of all 69 entries:

The poll will close on August 19th at midnight (US Eastern time).

#44 … I want a bigger screen on the back to see more details

    • http://bit.ly/9NIXQ Sir David Hasselblaff

Oh boy, this was a tough one. My favourite was #26 — Broxibear’s second entry. I ended up voting for Jürgen Pfeiffer’s FM3a (#11) since he was the first to come up with a minimalist Nikon. By the way he arranged the buttons on the back of the camer I’d say he must be an absolute genius.

      • IanZ28

I love the FM2 concept and idea and have been talking about it for a couple of years now. I just think it will be a $2000 camera.

It’s actually a perfect way for Nikon to continue to make use of the 12 MP sensor.

Imagine a FF 12 MP FE/FM body with no in body focus motor (should still be able to drive AFS lenses ie… d5000).

This should be Nikons answer to all the retro throwback micro 4/3rds sensor compacts……they could even do 2 versions. One with DX one with FX. Same FE/FM style body (prism and shutter/mirrorbox design issues with this though right?)

Would be a perfect compliment to my old AIS 20 f2.8 / 50 f1.8 and Tokina 90 f2.5 for a compact 3 lens travel kit.

    • Justin Stone

#5. I like the departure of the look. A bit derivative of Leica, but I would like to hold a camera like this in hand.

  • Orlando

    #61- Nice detail and originality

    • Artur Kozłowski

yeah, the skin tones are nice…

    • no-nikon-no

large touchscreen +1, but no thumb dials – forget it, tooo slow controls

  • EvanK

    #54 – Couldn’t resist, WALL-E is so cute! :)

Digging the #65 info screen with histogram

    • Ben

YES! LOVE the redone info screen with the histogram.

        #65 :)

        • joey

          Thanks guys! :)

A nice thing too is the camera is still the exact same size as the original so it doesn’t become any more giant then it is.. haha.

          Thanks so much :)

    Hate number 55….

    • http://www.tombarkerphotography.co.uk Tom Barker

It’s excruciatingly ugly isn’t it?!? Made it to show how basic the layout of the canon is compared to the D3 (+D4 I guess)

  • Rob

Just think…this contest has just given Nikon ideas for the D5 . I hope they don’t lay off any designers after this is overwith. ;^)

  • Artur Kozłowski

Sorry, all ya graphical whizzes, #1 is TOPS!

But I like the back-lighted buttons in #16.

#43 is uuuugly, dude stop smokin’ that stuff and take a Viagra or sumtin’.

And #58 is probably the most Far Out there….

  • The invisible man

Did you guys voted for the invisible man’s invisible D4 ?
    :)

    • Iris Chrome

I did but my vote became invisible soon after :p

    • Jabs

      @The invisible man

Yeah, I voted for your version of the elusive D4 plus the D4X and D4XV (2k to 4k video), but alas it vaporized or got lost somewhere between reality and the ‘nethers’, so perhaps you materialize and then we will laud you with a 48megapixel taser (lol) and make you now – VISIBLE.

EPIC transmission fail – lost in another dimension or maybe clueless to us inferior earthlings – so said the ROBOT – - -> what an eenteresting monster or are you merely a PUNY carbon life form and is that your communication device – TAKE me to your leader.

BUT my leader is invisible – POINTS to an iPhone – OK, says the alien invader – I’ll take FIVE – so you poke him in the eye(s) with your five fingers and it kills the dimwit – LOL!!!

      Next:

You now becoming ‘visible’ makes your formerly adoring wife go -Uuuuuuuugh.

Cover him up or worse – WHO IS THAT?

Be vewwy, vewwy, vewwy careful – Elmer to Bugs !

You might get your wish for and it kills ya – LOL!

My name is ‘MUD’ and MUD backwards = or spells DUM – ok

What does ‘invisible’ backwards mean or spell ???

-OR- what is the antithesis of invisibility?

Reality or dementia – dreams or being positive?

      Let me stop!

      • Artur Kozłowski

        …aaand Your point is?

        • Jabs

          @Arthur Kozlowski

          It’s a JOKE – American style!

You almost have to live in America to get it, maybe!

        • Jabs

          @Artur Kozlowski

He said that he had an INVISIBLE D4 and that he also was invisible = an oft-repeated JOKE here by that long time poster.

His NON-existing camera, basically being offered by someone who also does not exist !

Invisible as in maybe – one does not count or an undercover agent, sleeper, Web site owner and BORED, as in waiting on sales or such – got it???

          He runs an E-Bay store!

  • Michael

lots of good ideas, not easy to pick a favorite – but #21 it is.

    • Artur Kozłowski

      #21? It’s a D3 with the number changed!

      • chuck

*I am not the creator of 21 BUT*
it also has a physical button for picture control, the LV/record controls of newer DX cameras, a D pad on the vertical grip and the sensor on the prism housing.

        • Artur Kozłowski

a couple of buttons do not a new design make…

    • Johan

      Amen on that.

Plus that it is far more realistic.

  • http://photoartbymark.zenfolio.com photoartbymark

cant wait for the real one

    • The invisible man

Imagin there is no Nikon, is it so hard to do, no D4 to kill or die for, no D800 to….
      :)

  • BenS

i wanted to enter this contest … but since there is no leaks on the D4, i did not know what to imagine … damn waiting game is driving me insane . Still a Nikon loyalist though :) :) :)

    • fred

“i did not know what to imagine”

      Nikon, hire this man!

  • BenS

I think i know now why there is no a leak about the the D4… it is being tested by PROS who are paid to stay quiet …. Special Forces, Intelligence Community , etc ..

    • The invisible man

I’m a pro and I can talk……if you pay me good money !
      :)

    • broxibear

      Hi BenS,
You might get something soon, very soon…if Peter/admin is reading this an picks up an email I just sent him lol ?

      • broxibear

P.S. If Peter’s out partying and doesn’t post it within the next hour I’ll post it here, I know how desperate some of you are getting for anything on the D4.

        • The invisible man

Don’t get in troubles, they can wait a little….
          :)

          • broxibear

Damn…I forgot about the more than 2 links rule, I posted the details and now it saya “Your comment is awaiting moderation.” ? Damn Damn !

            • broxibear

              P.S. It’s 18Mp !

        • Joe

          Broxibear,

The info is related to D4 only? Anything on D700 successor?

          • broxibear

            Hi Joe,
I’ve nothing yet on any D700 replacement, my post below has what I found on the D4.

      • benS

Thanks Broxibear … just the resolution .. anymore interesting facts ? is it as revolutionary as when the D3 was announced ?

        • broxibear

Sorry benS, the post below is all I’ve got at the moment.
It’s the first bit of evidence that a D4 actually exists…trawling through a Japanese blog when you can’t read Japanese is bloody difficult, google translate isn’t that helpful either lol ?

          • benS

Whatever it is out there, I am amazed how airtight Nikon has been. I hope it really is the D4 so we could see soon how good it is as I am waiting for the D700 successor. Wanna move up to FX soon :)

  • jerl

I voted for number 4 just for fun, but I can see why #63 is so popular- it’s an interesting concept.

    • no-nikon-no

but actually a horrible idea. swivel screens are so easy to break. not built for rugged field usage at all. the d3 series were known for being especially well built. weak swivel screens would compromise it, while the screen would still be too small to justify it versus an external shoe mount large screen lcd.

      • jerl

Well, I did say interesting, not practical. Typically the D* models don’t even have a pop-up flash, a rotating screen would be completely out of the question.

  • http://www.luxicraft.com Luxicraft

Whoever designed the D3 has a serious self esteem problem. What a totally impractical camera to take anywhere. (This is not sour grapes. I have one and it’s a love/hate relationship.) There’s no reason it has to be that big and heavy to house a sensor 1 x 1.5 inches. Ludicrous.

Even the D700 is oversize and overweight. I want the smallest, simplest camera I can get. A ruggedly built D7000-sized camera would be perfect. The only bell/whistle I care about is that it should have a high resolution articulating screen that’s as large as it can be without causing the camera to be bigger.

Alas, there’s no chance. Testosterone rules and the D4 will be another monster. I will sell my D3 and get whatever the followup to the D700 is.

    • Artur Kozłowski

I agree. But perhaps those cameras are so big to balance the huge telephoto lenses? I don’t think they’re supposed to be taken on hiking trips.

    • broxibear

      Hi Luxicraft,
His name is Giorgetto Giugiaro, this is a video of him talking about his D3 design http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUWq1Dd2qVk
Personally I really like the D3…it’s got a real purity to it.
I’ve never had an issue with the size, fits my hands where smaller bodies don’t… each to their own I guess.

      • http://www.luxicraft.com Luxicraft

        Hi Broxibear –

I’m glad you are comfortable with your D3. And there’s no doubt it’s a magnificent bit of workmanship. And, I never said it wasn’t beautiful. It is. When you use one, you feel the rock solidness of it. Certainly inspires confidence.

And, by “designer”, I did not mean the person who decided how to make it look beautiful. I meant the person who made the decisions that made it so gigantic.

As you said, “each to their own”. I can appreciate the D3, but as a working tool, I find I grab the D7000 instead any time I have to either be in public (so as not to make a spectacle our of myself) or when I have to carry my kit any real distance.

    • JP Parmentier

I’ve been working with both size of pros & semi-pros cameras from Nikon and the only thing I could complain would be the weight of the Dx compared to the Dx00.

The handling is far better, having a D300 (or D700) with a grip doesn’t compare to a D3, s or x, because the commands are further away from your thumb, and it’s doesn’t feel as solid, really.

I have had the D200 slip twice from my hands (lucky I had the strap around my wrist both times). This never happened with D2h, D2Xs and D3s. But at the end of the day, I do feel my arms sore :-)

Even with a 50mm on it I’d rather shoot with my bulky D3s. I have big hands but the D300 is a backup, nothing more, I really like the size of the D3s as it is now, it’s great to grab it tight when needed and not have all my fingers on top of each other (I got my hands on a D3100, ouch. Could’nt hold it !)

Every Dx Press brochure from Nikon features a Giugiaro feature, a page talking about the design, check it out, page 26:

    • touchscreeeen

i think you will be happy if they create a d3-petite. :) hehehee just wondering how tall are you? since cameras are not one size fit all hands

    • Jabs

Personally, I am tired of all the wimpy people complaining about the SIZE of an already low weight camera.

TAKE some vitamins – get a life – get some BICEPS – some SKILL

      GET a spine BUB!

Nikon has a traditional size and feature function that PROS love, including me.

GO GET an iPhone or other such trendy devices and then ATTACH a 200F2 or a 600 F4 to it, or even an OLD 50-300 F4.5 Ed zoom – LOL (It has 95mm filters too)

      BUY a Sony NEX!

Idiots calling for tiny USELESS cameras are morons or ‘complanicons’ (lol – Transformer reference)- GO BUY a D3100, D5100 or a D7000 – as you probably DO NOT get the purpose of a D3 or D3s.

I really detest these ‘macro-NERDS’ fixated on the smaller is better mantra – GET REAL – LIFE is not what YOU want, but what YOU make of it based upon what is in front of YOU = reality.

Dr. WACKO to his Frankenstein ‘creation’ = Ahhhhh – I have ‘created’ da perfect ‘human being’ – JUST before it kills him – Deserves it too, as an idealistic moron.

WANT small – wait on the leetle bitty CoolPix Pro line and leave the man sized Nikon PRO bodies to us men or at least to the real ones not afraid to or unable to carry a five to six pound load – HELLO, a 5lb bag of sugar is easy to carry all day!

Sorry to be rude, BUT tired of this mindless dribble here about downsizing.

GET an ‘artsy-fartsy Leica’ and be done with it.

      • Artur Kozłowski

        yeeeehaw!

  • H Qasem

#65 because the extra detail screen does not clutter the display. Really smart.

    • joey

Hey thanks, that is what I thought too. :)

  • broxibear

Ok, I don’t know where Peter/admin is usually he’s pretty quick in returning my emails so I’m just going to post this.
I haven’t got an image of the D4 itself, but what I do have is a couple of images taken using a Nikon D4.
Lets not go into how I found them but here’s the exif data as shown on two images
    http://i.imgur.com/6EVAO.jpg
    http://i.imgur.com/khoL2.jpg
The images are on a blog/site testing HDVR panoramas, most of the exif data on the other images has been censored, but for whatever reason they left two images with the camera data…the camera being a Nikon D4.
The images were taken in early January according to the exif data. Personally I think they just forgot to censor the exif data in those two, or they did it on purpose. I don’t see any reason for them to be faked since they were posted in a very obscure place.
I don’t know if it’ll be taken down but here is the site itself, http://www.hdvr.org/xe/index.php?document_srl=49272 use your own exif data viewer to check if you want ?

    • http://nikonrumors.com/ [NR] admin

I am on it. It is interesting that the EXIF says “2% crop of the 6,000 × 3,000 (18.0 megapixel) original”

      • broxibear

Ah cool, you’re with us…I’ll leave it to you then, I need to get some sleep.
        Sorry about the double post.

        • goose

          U DA MAN

      • Jabs

        @Administrator.

Did you realize that 6000X3000 = 2:1 ratio, while FX is not that ratio (36mm x 24mm roughly = 3:2).

Hmm – a video or cinematic frame grab, maybe.

Nikon must be giving us 2K Cinematic video or have many more ratios like we have in Cinema, Pro Videos?

6000X3000 DOES NOT point to 18megapixel BUT points to a higher native resolution DROPPED down to 2:1, perhaps.

        Eagle eye here!

    • D700guy

I think it’s kind of interesting that several of the shooters on that blog use light stands as tripods.

    • Landscape Photo

      Hi Broxibear,

The original-size file is here: http://www.hdvr.org/xe/files/attach/images/2958/272/049/0495.jpg

It is an 18mp equirectangular 360×180 degrees panorama stitched out of several images. They always have a 2/1 aspect ratio. But it doesn’t necessarily mean the D4 file is 18mp.

As we know, a 3/2 aspect 18mp D4 file would be something similar to 5212 x 3472 px of Leica M9, but not 6000 x 3000 px. Still that pano could have done out of 18mp D4 images, who knows ;)

I really wonder if the D800 will be 16,18, 20, or 24mp. And whether it will have a 100% viewfinder. There is not a trace of info leaked yet :(

      • broxibear

Hi Landscape Photo how’s it going?
Thank for the info, I don’t know if it’s from a D4, as I was saying to Peter it seems an odd place and subject to fake the exif data.
Personally I was always leaning towards the D4 and D800 being 18MP. The reality is that all the 100% corner comparisons at 1600 iso that have infected various review sites have no bearing on the reality of taking images…it’s a device to convince people to buy the new model.
I’m not in the market for a D4, D800, D400 or mirrorless. My D3 does everything I ask of it, and it does it beautifully…the mirrorless is too little too late as I bought a competitor.
It’ll be interesting to see what nikon bring with their new cameras but I won’t be lusting after one…unless it comes with a free Esperanza Gomez (NSFW) lol.

  • ncphotog

#65 has features I’ve been wishing for so long.

  • broxibear

Sorry Peter I know this is a bit of a double post, my fist post is awaiting moderation ? I want to get it on nikonrumors before it’s picked up by another site…and it’s 3:33am here and I need some sleep lol…

I haven’t got an image of the D4 itself, but what I do have is a couple of images taken using a Nikon D4.

The exif data also shows a 18MP camera.

    • http://nikonrumors.com/ [NR] admin

Could it be that the images are stitched and this is why they are 18MP?

    • http://nikonrumors.com/ [NR] admin

Yes, I really think that two images were stitched together since this is a panorama shot, this explains the 18MP. The Nikon D4 part can easily be manipulated.

      • AnoNemo

        I know why, they used two D2 cameras. D2 + D2 = D4
        :-)

      • http://www.lamarfrancoisphoto.co.uk lamarfrancois

1:2 aspect ratio strongly suggests the two images have been stitched rather than being SOC.

Good attempt , but this probably is a fake .

      • broxibear

I just think it’s an odd thing to want to fake, If you’re going to fake something like that then why make it near impossible to find the images ?… you’d want to post it somewhere more public.
The website’s there so decide for yourself, I think I said it was Japanese earlier but it’s Korean.

        • Victor Hassleblood

Early january? Clearly stitched stuff! No way this could possibly be taken by a D4.

I guess you got carried away by exifcitement. Thanks anyway broxibear.

          • broxibear

            Hi Victor Hassleblood,
Even if it’s clearly stiched as you say could it not be images taken on a D4 that have ben stiched ?
I’m not saying it was a retail ready D4 in January but I am sure they were testing before then…as I said decide for yourselves.
I’m only the messenger…If I come across anything else I’ll post it.

            • http://nikonrumors.com/ [NR] admin

I’ve seen several photos with Nikon D4 in the exif in the past few months. Some do it for fun, others hope to end up on NikonRumors :)

            • IanZ28

When stitching images the exif data is from one single image (assuming it isn’t erased to begin with). At least that has been my experience when doing pano’s.

  • sherwood411

Add an iPhone4 screen and brains + electronic eyepiece (NO MIRROR) and they will have an innovative killer camera

  • aron

well my vote goes for NUMBER 13, because it just looks awesome !!!!

    • Artur Kozłowski

      awesome krrrraaazyyy!

  • http://geoffcbassett.com Geoff

    #65

Because I want that histogram and info feature on the actual D4. Everthing else looks nice, but I would pay extra for a screen like that on the back of my camera. Add the LV/ record trigger from the D7000 and that is exactly what I want design wise for the D4.

Goddamn that info panel is pure sex.

  • http://www.zhovtenko.net Vsevolod

#1 Because it is so unexpected to join the competition with such image, I just love such attitude!

    • Artur Kozłowski

      me too!

  • Ball_Lightning

I don’t know why #63 is getting so many votes. A display rotating left directly over the buttons where you can’t even swivel it…?

    • Midnight Lost Child

63, 40 and a few others have that defect of a side swivel display. I think this may be do to people that have never used their camera outside of auto mode and thus don’t use the fancy buttons.

      • JP Parmentier

Hi I did #63, and I did think a lot about the screen covering the button. I do shoot 90% of the time in Manual mode with a D3s, in low-light conditions.

But when you do need the swiveling display, you are not handling the camera the usual way, so maybe you don’t access the buttons that often.

    • touchscreeeen

#50 is more pratical than #63

  • Midnight Lost Child

looks like the voting is going to come down to who has the biggest social network! ….We’ll I guess i should vote for mine since I did participate in this contest!

    • JP Parmentier

Hi I voted for mine and sent 5 emails to my friends; The rest is people voting on their good will.
I checked last night when the voting started and I was up there with #12 and #65 but yes it’s hard to understand how #38 has jumped so far ahead now ;-)
      Oh well.

    • http://nikonrumors.com/ [NR] admin

As time passes by and more NR readers vote for this contest, the number of “insider votes” will deminish.

      • JP Parmentier

I guess you are right, still 4 days to go. Thanks for the contest anyways, it’s a nice change from the “random pick”. It’s better to do a little work to deserve the prize :)

But now I’m wishing I had 5.000 friends on facebook :D

  • Cygnet11

It bothers me a little that nearly all the illustrated lenses are old “D” lenses. I hope this is not significant.

    • JP Parmentier

Look at #63 I took the time to make a montage of the D3S with the most recent pro lens, the 14mm f/1.4

Because I thought it would make sense to show the new camera with a recent, cool lens and I do think that most D4 promo shots will be shot with lenses that Nikon wants the pros to buy. Most of them already have 24-70 and 14-24.

      • Cygnet11

I did say nearly all. Please tell me where I can buy the 14mm f:1.4. It will be a winner for Nikon as should be your entry for you.

    I just vote mind. :)

  • broxibear

Nikon Pole dancing, I kid you not, it says “I am Pole Dance”.
This may not be safe for work, depending where you work of course ?…

      oh, wow…

    • IanZ28

Dancers weren’t very good at all……. Not impressed

      • BornOptimist

Who cares, I wouldn’t mind being the pole

        • Artur Kozłowski

I am a Pole – from Poland! Wha’, you sain’ we can’t dance?

    • Mandrake

This is why I shoot Nikon….lol

  • Cygnet11

I did say nearly all. If a 14mm f:1.4 did exist then Nikon really would have a winner. Your #63 is one of my favourites. Good luck.

    • JP Parmentier

      Oops, I used the 24 mm f:1.4 not the non-existing 14 mm :-D

Sorry about the typo, thanks for your nice comments.

      • The invisible man

        you’re French ?

        • JP Parmentier

          oui monsieur.

          • The invisible man

Le matèriel photo est il toujours aussi cher en France ?

  • plug

Still some entries with nil points. Can’t people vote for their own entries? A bit like UK efforts in the Eurovision Song Contest.

  • AnoNemo

    How to make a D4.

    Ingredients and instructions:
    1) Take an image of a D3, D700, or D300
    2) Fire up the good old photoshop
    3) Start messing with #1 and #2
    4) Once you can barely recognize #1 stop! You’re done
    5) Submit to NR Rumors to cause nausea to other Nikon fans

Seriously, I give credit for the try but ….
I can imagine that even the Nikon engineers are shaking their heads.
    :-)

  • Al0n

Allez la Gaule, et un vote pour vous.

  • Joaquim Prado

Just saw a D700 with a ruge discount in one of T.Tanaka(which use to be nikons official until nikon come officially to brazil) revendors, a departament store called FNAC. At the store a body sells around R$13.000 (which is around 8.000USD today) and now is R$8,500 (which is around 5,200USD), which is a pretty unusual discount around here, specially for this kind of dealer.

The D300s was without any discount but few other lens were with discounts such as the 60mm 2.8G, 10-24mm and a few others. but their discount were not liked the D700.

Kind of like the number 18, reminds me the F4!

  • Jeremy Maready

    #45!

  • The invisible man

If there is no new FX (afordable) coming soon I’ll get a D700 (why did I sold mine ?).

  • bod

    #33 a nice touch-screen

  • Artur Kozłowski

    - see NR administrators? That’s how You make successful posts/threads – give people a chance to show their creativity, make them participate, choose and discuss. Primary School 101! It’s simple and brilliant.

    • broxibear

I agree Artur, infact admin should give the person who came up with such an inspired idea a free ThinkTankPhoto Airport Airstream lol ?
Maybe if a mirrorless isn’t announced this month we can have a “Imagine the Nikon EVIL” competition.

      • http://nikonrumors.com/ [NR] admin

Broxibear, I will keep this in mind :)

        • Discontinued

          WHERE is the smoke ? ? ?

Sony is apparently going to release new FFs in 6 to 9 month. Maybe we do not get to see revolutionary FX Nikons in August at all? Maybe we see just an EVIL mirrorless? Maybe we’ll see a D400 plus something using the old D3X’s sensor in a new manner?
Well, I wouldn’t mind as long as the latter means a D800.

  • D700guy

I find this a little interesting; a D3x for sale at Amazon for $10,000
    http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001MJ03U0/?tag=googhydr-20&hvadid=2856001951&ref=pd_sl_73r5avd2ot_b

Not good news for the price of the upcoming bodies.

    • matgay

      24.5megapixel nikon d3x full frame
      vs.
      40megapixel pentax 645d medium format.
      same price. same iso performance.

    • The invisible man

Amazon is a ripoff store only for dumies !
Go B&H or Adorama (say you’ve heard about them from the invisible man to get your discount)

  • http://www.amanochocolate.com Art

There are, of course, some fairly prominent photographers who read Nikon Rumors. It is entirely possible that one or more of them already has the new Nikon D4…..

In fact, it is entirely possible that one of the pictures of the D4 submitted for the contest is a picture of a REAL D4. How is THAT for a thought ????

  • AnoNemo

    NR Admin,

Fix your website!!! It is extremely slow and you do not need that long list for voting!. Use a drop-down list or something.

Oh, and thanks for deleting my earlier post.

  • Ryan

Im liking #65 more and more. I think it will take it for the win!

    • IanZ28

After going back and actually looking at the large image for #65 I am very impressed. The button layout is excellent and well thought out. The histogram on the lower LCD is a brilliant idea. All subtle refinements that are brilliant for an end user.

      • Ryan

I couldnt agree more! I would buy that camera.

        • joey

Thanks everyone. That is what I thought too. I did mention this earlier but the camera is exactly the same size too. Once I started playing with it I realized how much room could be freed up with a little moving around. It is probably just me but I have always felt the record button gets too much space. I also use both a D3 and a D3s and I really don’t like where they added the info button since I always hit it by accident instead of pressing “OK” when switching between the two cameras. If you look closely the battery compartment has also been slightly shifted up to allow space for the multi-selector button.

I am by no means a camera designer but I thought the tweaks are subtle yet functional.

  • Me

    #68: ROTFL!

    • Artur Kozłowski

actually, I like this one, seems that a young designer has spent a lot of time drawing this.

  • Magnus

Wouldn’t it have been more fun if NR had run a competition where people compete on who could predict the name and specs on what will be released on Aug. 24?
    Winner announced on Aug. 25.
Throw in a good price and somebody might even leak some real info in order to win ;)

    • Rob

Not sure if it’s more fun, but it’s definitely a good idea. Can we do this as well admin?

    • http://geoffcbassett.com Geoff

We should do this aswell, could be very fun :)

    • http://nikonrumors.com/ [NR] admin

I can try this next time around (maybe in September)

  • Rob Ellis

You can vote more than once on this, of course people are gonna vote for them self over and over, just look at the drawing thats winning :L

    • broxibear

      Hi Rob Ellis,
You’re right, you can vote more than once, infact you can vote as many times as you want ?
      I’ve contacted admin/Peter about this.
It’s not fair on any of the entrants if the voting system is flawed.

      • joey

You certainly can vote as many times as you would like.

Best of luck to all participants and may the prize go to the best design and not the person who shamelessly clicks away the most to “win”.

        Go #65!!!!!

        :)

  • http://azmirrahmanwordpress.com Azmir

Geez, 9 days to the announcement.

  • no-nikon-no

nothing new until next friday? what rumors planet u on? next wednesday is doomsday already.

    • AnoNemo

we are not invited to the doomsday! We have to select the winner between the 69 beautiful D4 submissions. It takes time! :-)

  • Mike

#66 but they should definitely ad the SmartCovers from #67 Congrats on the idea – it would sell like hot cakes ;-)
