nikon nikkor 50mm f1.8G lens 300x279 Nikon AF S 50mm f/1.8G lens now shipping in the USThe Nikkor AF-S 50mm f/1.8G lens is now being shipped in the US. I know for sure that at least one dealer (Acephoto) will be getting it in the next few days. This time Nikon started shipping the lens before the previously announced US release date. Shipments in Europe already started 10 days ago.

1.4 is only a bit more expensive but much more efective for me….

It’s more than twice the price. Have you been shooting with the 1.8 G?

It is the campaign launched by Nikon Thailand. Girl gangs to shoot by D5100, so this video filmed when all these girls were doing this activity.

      don’t be too serious.

Nikon Malaysia tweeted something quite interesting about 10 hours ago:

“Look out for Tomorrow Nikon DSLR fans.. we got something coming up and it’s gona be exciting for those that LOVES portrait photography! =) the results is pretty superb!”

Any clues on what this might be about? New portrait lenses? Or should we just expect something highly anticlimatic that’s not about new products at all? :)

Personally, I’d love some AF-S f/2 or 2.8-ish short tele primes.

My guess would be a contest or some similar type of promotion…no new product.

Like many here, I’d jump on a new Nikon 85 mm 1.8.

Anybody used the Sigma 85mm 1.4? How does it hold up in comparison to the Nikon 85 1.4G?

              Posted June 3, 2011 at 1:11 pm | Permalink

That lens would be so sold out if they released one

        • Posted June 3, 2011 at 1:52 pm | Permalink

          Same here!! I’d love to have a 85mm f/1.8 G for around $450.

The Sigma 1.4 seems like the next best option, but at $900 I just can’t swing it.

Robert’s Camera is charging 18 bucks to ship. It’s in stock and ready to ship. However on Saturdays and Sundays they lower their shipping to free shipping if you spend $100 or more. Adorama whom I already have a pre-order with is not shipping till next Friday. Plan: Wait till tomorrow, order from Roberts (hopefully still in stock). Then cancel with Adorama. Of course, my plans never quite work out that well.

Here is a good one for everyone. I was in Samys Camera in Santa Ana, CA yesterday while my wife was shopping next door. I asked the sales clerk who I know and has been working there for several years if he knew when they would be receiving the AF-S 50mm f/1.8G lens. He promptly told me that Nikon was not shipping any lenses since the earthquake and I told him that this lens was due to be out this week. He went on to tell me that I was not correct and that I should not pay attention to “Rumors”. He was also a bit short with me as well.

I have today received an interesting email message from Adorama and my AF-S 50mm f/1.8 lens has shipped today and I should receive it by the end of the week.

I continue to be amazed at how some, if not many people working in camera sales do not know what is going on in thier own market place.

Hope everyone else gets theirs soon as well.
