And the winner is…

First I would like to thank all participants in the ThinkTank Digital Holster 50 V2.0 giveaway. This time you beat all previous records with 3171 entries. I would like to thank also ThinkTank Photo for sponsoring this giveaway. Because of the large number of entries, I had to come up with a different way of selecting the winner - I ran a SQL script on the database that randomly picked one of the 3171 comments (I also made sure there were no duplicate entries):

think tank giveaway winner And the winner is...

and the winner is... Jimmy Lamont. Congratulations!

For the other 3170 readers that did not win this time, I will have another ThinkTank giveaway in the next few days. It will be also for a brand new ThinkTank product that you cannot purchase yet. Stay tuned.

honestly, i thought admin would choose one of those who did not submit an entry, as a new twist, and just get it from the email database he kept, less those who submitted an entry… i know it’s a bit lame but i’m still reeling from that Q fiasco, and having my dream stunted when the D400 was not revealed at photokina… congratulations mr. lamont, i hope you are not a resident of the u.s.a. to maintain this worldwide scope of promotion…

No , ‘venancio’, I am not the admin of Nikon Rumors, though I am an American. Just another Nikon shooter in Tampa, Florida. For what it’s worth, I’m also still pretty pissed about the lack of a new FX model at Photokina myself. Good luck in the next drawing!

Congrats Lamont, it wouldn’t of made it here in time for my trip to East Africa, but it would of been a nice welcome home gift.

      Enjoy!

Its ok, you can have that think tank bag. By the time Nikon releases my D800 there will be no more need for bags on planet earth. I heard it will come out with some sort of magnetic force field, and will float by your side at all times. It will be telepathically controlled, and therefore be able to read your thoughts. You don’t even have to see what you shoot, you wake up and all the shots you dreamt of will be in it. So again, keep your new bag, for I have no desire or need for such a product… Ok maybe those aren’t the exact specs, and maybe I do want the bag, but the truth… you’ll never know.

So if I know which random seed you are using, and when you run the query, I just have to make sure I have the comment number… My plan is infallible!

(just kidding, nice way of randomizing the choice, congrats to Jimmy)

    • Posted October 21, 2010 at 12:18 pm | Permalink

actually the comment ID you see in the query would be the same for all comments

Yes, with so many entries, I couldn’t do it any other way – before I used to ask the forum moderators to randomly pick a winner.
