Q&A session with Nikon Denmark: 16MP Nikon D90 replacement before Photokina, no other DSLR

This is the transcript of Nikon's press conference in Denmark. After the event, there was a Q&A session and here are some of the interesting Answers from Nikon Denmark:

"10:02
Svend Erik says that Nikon was out of the crisis in six months
10:02
since the first April, sales exploded and there are now problems getting products to stores ...

10:08 [Comment from Soren Reinke:]
When will the release a camera like the D300/D700 class, that can record Full HD video?
10:09
@ Soren: I think we will see at least one more launch before Photokina. But the question is whether it is a new D300 or D700. I doubt it. I think the D90 stands for replacement within.

10:14 [Comment from Poul:]
Which sensor sits in (referring to the new D3100)
10:14
@ Paul: A 14-megapixel APS-C sensor. I think that it is a Sony sensor

10:21 [Comment by nicholas:]
will be the successor to the D90 use the same sensor?
10:21
@ Nicolas: it's hard to say. But muligeden there. But one could also imagine 16 megapixels

10:361
Svend Erik also says cryptically that there are still a half months to Photokina. It will be the biggest bet at Photokina Nikon ever.

10:38 [Comment from John:]
What happens with D5000?
10:38
@ John: D5000 continues

10:40
[Comment from kevin:]
what an EVIL camera as example the Olympus Pen and Sony Nex. Nikon has something up our sleeve which to Photokina?
10:41
@ Kevin: It's nothing new about an EVIL camera. Sorry.

10:44 [Comment from Lillie :]
Will we see anything new on D300s front of this year in the form of a replacement?
10:44
@ Lillie: No. I think not. I think we will see a D90 replacement.

10:45 [Comment by Nicholas:]
nikon will confirm that there will be another launch of a new camera before Photokina?
10:45
@ Nicolas: No it will not. The comment they NEVER on. But you ask me, so there will be one more launch."

if the d90 replacement will have alluminiun/ magnesium body, that means nikon will release a new battery grip. Am I wright?

  • Michell Bak

It’s not an interview with Nikon, but answers from a Danish photography magazine.

  • Johnni Frederiksen

Michell Bak is right.. This is not answers from Nikon – but the representative from the Danish photography magazine ZOOM who answers/guesses/commenting during Nikon press conference in Copenhagen Zoo.

So we just have to wait a little bit longer, then the answer will show itself…

By the way.. this is the link for the source… give it time to load – if you guys are ready to go head to head with the danish language..

Sorry admin but this “qa” is nothing but. Confusing and not looking credible. I’d change title of post to something more neutral and less affirmative.

Men & Women, look for a D700XS at the end of photokina! Higher but moderate pixel increase with better ISO 200-12800, higher FPS, very similar body to D700. Expect pricing on release to be £2300 body.

If I’m wrong, admin can pass you a gun to shoot me dead.

    Watch.

Too bad they won’t be able to get out the D3100 or the D95(whatever you want to call it) before my daughter is born. I know it’s kinda lame that I would base a camera purchase on either on my daughters birthday, but I really need to be able to utilize the video feature in the camera. If there is no release date before she comes, I won’t be purchasing a Nikon. On the flip side I love their ISO performance…. dangit.

btw, have you read any rumor about D90 replacement metering with manual focus lenses?

I mean, Canon cameras usually do it, and D300s does it, not being very far from the price of the D90 replacement….

  • Kordi

Hi ALL!!! I love to see new Nikon D90s / D95 or D7000. I hope it won’t be much more expensive than current D90 ! Replacement of D90 is the biggest awaiting in the photo industry… I hope this best-seller from Nikon will be high quality and will produce great photos, like D90 and D80 did it in past.

What standard (KIT) lens will be on D90s box ? Do you know what can we expect, any new lenses? I hope it wont be 18-135 (bad quality), 18-105 (distortion) or 18-70 (CA).

Hi guys, just to inform you guys, this transcript is from a live coverage of the press meeting. Users of the website where the live coverage was broadcasted could ask the journalist participating in the meeting questions, which he then would pass on to the Nikon representatives. Some of the questions he answered himself, without asking the Nikon reps… As far as I can tell all answers given in the transcript above is speculations made by the journalist.
    P.S. I’m from Denmark :-)
(I’m sorry if somebody already mentioned this in a reply above, but I didn’t have the time to read all of them :-)
