For the record, yes, I am an engineer. Mechanical to be exact.

As I was saying, the images did indeed turn out to be renders. There’s too many little things amiss with them for it to be real.

Now, I’ll give it to you that those are the most realistic looking renderings that I’ve ever seen. Even more awe-inspiring is the likelyhood that in 10 years’ time we will be watching movies, TV, and playing video games (all in 3D of course) that are that beautiful.

A good point. Ok to post it on the net, not cool to lie about it. Some interesting discussion ensued though, whatever the story.

But Nikon, you’ll have to give us that mystery dial under the lens now that we’ve got a taste for it. In-camera VR or variable ND would be a nice addition…

Actually, in this case it likely hurts her.
If indeed she was gaming everyone for exposure, any potential client now has to question whether she can be trusted in business. “Is she a schemer…will she scheme me?”
And, if it was a leak, then any client has to question her confidentiality and ability to maintain privacy and security of contracted work.

I’m all for people thinking creatively and doing mockups and concept designs. And I even don’t mind the photoshopped fakes and rumors.
But in this case, she could have got all the traffic without the apparently weak cover story. I don’t like being lied to….of course I’m cynical and assume she was bull********.)

I tend to agree, although good on her for doing it! What a genius way to market yourself! Besides, it doesn’t hurt anyone – if anything it gives insight in to what people like/dislike about a particular design – gets people thinking.

If I had 3d skills, I’d consider the same thing except I’d make a D800, cause a stir Maybe Nikon should have open polls on concept product renderings to determine what people want in their cameras. Might give away too much though. Wouldn’t want that…

Just to clarify: you guys do know these clays are digital renderings as well, right? It seems by the sound of @aetas comment that they are thought to be real clays.

Yet it would be so Nikon to stick to the same overweight body design. And what’s the most common excuse – they are better balanced with pro glass. Well, how on earth did we then shoot with the F2 back in the days? And there is something called a battery grip for the pro with huge pockets.

Well it looks like there is allot of people have egg on their face. Word of advice from a famous person P.T. Barnum, “There’s a sucker born every minute”. Stop being a sucker and start using your head guys! My God, fellow photographers, you have a beautiful camera right now. Why don’t you dust off the camera and start taking pictures. Stop speculating, Nikon will bring out a new camera when they are ready not in till. Remember Nikon is international corporation, they dance to their own tune, not yours or mine.

So. What are you going to do, continue speculating or are you going to go out and enjoy life and take lots of pictures? The choice is yours. For me I’m going to enjoy life and take lots of pictures.
