I do not mind the variable aperature that much, but I do not like the wide range. A tighter range would be more preferred.

Wait. The D90 is pretty old. I’m really waiting the D300s but might wait a few more weeks. If there such a thing as a D90 upgrade it will probably be better than the D300s

Haha! Well I think that its just a rough sketch, as [NR]admin has said. The real product will look glossy/rugged, cooler, and with grip for fingers rather than a chunk of plastic. [Or magnesium-alloy LOL]

I agree.

An 18-135 f/3.5-4.5 VR DX is what I am waiting for.
Even an 24-135 f/3.5-4.5 or 35-135 f/3.5-f4.5.

Fast focusing is also very important.

I hope not. I hope that it is more on the line of the 10-24mm and also with a distance scale. An AF-S DX 18-135mm f/3.5-4.5G VR would make a nice match with the AF-S DX 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G and AF-S DX 35mm f/1.8G lenses.

considering the main market for this kind of lens , ie rich uncles and middle aged men with nothing better to do on there days off, id bet on plastic mount. The kit lenses are still built pretty well though, the focus is always smooth on the many ive used and the zoom on my 18-105 doesent creep at all so its not all bad.

If this is another plastic mount lens, then I will pass. If it is a metal mount lens, then I will consider.

I would also have prefered it to be a little faster; f/3.5-4.5 even if this means more cost. I like the AF-S 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5. The f/5.6 is a bit slow.

Nikon closely watches this site for ideas. When, for example, a 16-35 f/4 VR zoom is rumored, they go ahead and produce that item.
