I missed this bit of rumour earlier from all the talk of the new lenses. Looks like 2010 will be the year of the primes. Perhaps this year we will see the most new lens announcements ever?

What most pros want is probably rather less significant than what will sell well.

Before Nikon can credibly sell an FX camera at a D300 price point ($1800 or less), they need a set of lenses that costs rather less than the $6000 plus that the magic three cost.

The 85 f/1.4 is the lens I would like, so I expect it will be the last one out.

admin,

any estimate in the cost of an 85 1.4? woudl there be any chance of a cheaper 85 1.8? I wonder if nikon would consider another affordable dx prime…

Google is right. Google is always right. God blesses Google with His Noodly Appendage. Or perhaps vice versa.

But in this case I'm guessing that Google is right in a wrong sort of way.

Why not? In relation to faster zooms at this focal length it's really "compact".
Or did he mean dx-zooms?

I don't think there is any way you can equate an 80-400 replacement with 'light compact zoom.' FML.
