I noticed something: shouldn't the trigger (the one that fits on the camera) have the extra pins on the hot-shoe connector for TTL to work? Or does it need the sync cord connected as well?

Nope I don't. But I have used a variety of different products over the course of the last 3 years, whether they were made by pocket wizard or elinchrom, etc. I find the radio poppers are simply the most reliable out of the bunch. The only downside to the radio poppers is the available can be some what touchy. I waited 3 weeks for mine.

If you do buy the TT1 and TT5 you will be disappointed. Seriously I had one TT5 break when I tightened a 580EX II. It snapped into place and the hotshoe came up.

Mleh the radio poppers are already extremely amazing. I'm able to get range at 110m on my Px1 system. Also I am controlling upwards of 8 different speedlights using one radio popper controller. I personally love how the radio poppers are simply an IR tranceiver in many ways.

The hotshoe type wireless flash triggers are always going to be prone to the hotshoe popping out. The pocketwizards in general though have very very very poor construction overall. I mean they even feel cheap in your hands.

The three big knocks against these "pixel" controllers are really simple.

1) we make it in china cheap.
2) CR2 batteries? WTF are you kidding me. Yay to $$$ batteries.
3) selling your products solely on ebay?

In short I think radio popper right now is ahead of the competition. I've had no issues at all with their product and I absolutely love them. I had been using TT1 and TT5 with my old Canon setup for some time but sheesh I went through 4 TT5s.

I'm fairly certain, considering how radio waves work, there is no limitation on how many receivers can be triggered by one transmitter. In fact, it would be more difficult to enforce a limit than not....

Yes, all the time. And that is exactly why I'm asking. Manual mode for the flashes and camera is essential for complex situations. Depending here on the thoughts of a Japanese engineer several years ago, seems to me rather uncomfortable.

Who needs wireless TTL? Especially for the low budget market, I believe a product with the Radiopopper JRx approach would make a whole lot of more sense.

Please do not buy the pocketwizard TT1 or TT5 if it's released for Nikon. The product is very poorly made and prone to being damage extremely easily. The hotshoe connector is flawed and likes to pop out making them useless.

I went to radio poppers myself and couldn't be happier.

This new unite looks great and seems way cheaper than the new Pocket Wizzard, but the email address on their WWW site does not seem to work so I wonder if its some kind of fly by night outfit.

I think the delays are because canon's units had major problems with inconsistant rf signals. I read nikons system was actually easier but delayed cause they wanted to fix canon models first. I missed out on a whole wedding season because of this delay!

Delays are because of the difficult/complicated Nikon signal.
Canon seemed a lot easier to 'translate'.
Im guessing they dont get a lot of help from Japan either....
