if you are not allowed to post the tests, then get the permission
or at list post crops to support your your claim
or again “the difference is substantial” don’t mean anything valid
it does mean that some guy at “nikonrumors.com” writes at the comments the new nikon 70-200 is a far better lens. so?
now the other guy (me) says don’t expect miracles..

the tests were done in a professional studio with identical lighting setups and on identical tripods.

Nikon results:
Looking just at Imaging division for the 1st half of the fiscal year (Apr09-Sept09) compared to previous fiscal year 1st half:
Revenue in Yen is down 18.4%
Revenue in USD is down 9.9%
Earnings in Yen is down 36.9%
Earnings in USD is down 30.3%

Units:
DSLRs: down 4.6%. 32% market share compared to CIPA Shipments for same period.
P&S: up 1.4%. 10.4% market share
Lenses: flat 28.9% market share.
Lenses per body sold: 1.48. CIPA industry average: 1.63

Full Year Forecast (ending March 2010 compared to FY ending March 2009):
Revenue in Yen is down 6.1%
Revenue in USD up 2%
Earnings in Yen up 24.9%
Earnings in USD up 35.6%

Note: USD Revenue/earnings calculation based on Nikon’s projection that USD will average 93 Yen, but as of right now, it looks like it will be closer to 90.

Projected full year Units compared to previous year actual:
DSLRs: up 3.8%
P&S: up 11.3%
Lenses: up 5.7%

Seems optimistic, but Nikon always projects conservatively and always beats their numbers. Guess they expect a good holiday season and/or they expect to release a lot of new product early in 2010.

C’mon.. “the difference is substantial”
It is so unprofessional to conclude this from some test shots,
if you would have took studio shots on a tripod, with the same composition, aperture and camera and compare the shots, only then the saying “the difference is substantial” would have meant anything

The d300s water housing does not have the center select button on the 5 button wheel. Not a big deal if you can uses the ok as a select button. But if that was for the the d90 that would be bad that you spend all that money to find out that you can’t uses the ok button, select or even take video…..

The addition of video to the D300s will mean that one heck of a lot of divers will be interested in it.

Still and video in one is not such a big issue for me on the surface, my Canon Vixia HF22 weighs less than a lens.

Down 100m or so, the ability to switch from one to the other is going to be very big news.

just shot some test shots with new 70-200mm VR 2 couple weeks ago. but, unfortunately, i am not allowed to post them anywhere. compared to the previous version, the difference is substantial on both dx and fx bodies.
