On that point I notice that the new and improved 70-200mm lens is listed at about $2400. It seems to me that those people who primarily use APS-C format Nikon DSLRs might have a chance toi buy the older version significantly cheaper as it is cleared out. The lens was just fine on APS-C DX format Nikons from what I hear.

The only reason to bring out a 300s is to extend the production life of the 300 another year and whip up some Christmas buying.

And the 70-200 is now “professional” once again, like the last one was a DX or something.

Both new products also counteract the price erosion by getting prices back up to MSRP AKA the new product never sell below price.

First, great job NR!

Second, congratulation for Nikon and the Star Wars Kids.

I mean, I just cannot believe that after 2 years, all Nikon can do is to add the video that does not even match the 5DII. Are these people insane? For crying out loud, at least match that one. I understand that there are quite few who is interested in playing with video on a DSLR but on a “pro” style camera for many is not priority.

No question about it, I guess I am not the only one who is very disappointed.

wtf. 600?? really? i bought my d60 for 480.. wtf? Is this thing really gonna go for 600? Well, I hope its low light performance is on par w/ the d5000 rather than the d60.

There’s 2 mistakes I found on the dpreview pages:
The d3000 is said to have a CCD says the text but the chart says it has a CMOS.
The D300 is said to shoot 7fps in the text but spec chart says 6.

I am really disappointed about the 720p only…

Just this very second hits Nikon Australia’s website, both cams, both lenses, 70 – 200 may be about 30 days away in Aus…(I’ve ordered) and up to about AU$400 more
