1) continue posting RUMORS as RUMORS (that is “magazine xxx has spotted a new lens OR on a yyyy forum someone talked about a zzz lens/body.. I’m sure you know what I mean)

2) open a SEPARATE section for links that might be interesting in the future (here you might let fall the Thom section, that is “Nice to know that Thom Hogan is working on a new mysterious book: let’s hope to read it soon” OR also those latest 2nd hand rumors just to keep track of them). Of course this has less priority than #1. People must be aware that you post them not to lose them by the time, not because you’re speculating on something.

3) forget all the rest. By the way, let me at least thank you for the great effort you do to keep all us informed of what’s going on out there.

But with the “book incident” YOU actually created the rumor yourself, based on a razor blade thin assumption that someone would actually write and publish a BOOK over a rumored camera/lens/whatever. That’s different, and has, IMO, no place here. But you decide.

I am struck by how the many people who accuse you of wasting their time are actually wasting their own time by posting comments that are critical, but not at all helpful. I haven’t read the entirety of most of them. I don’t see the need to linger on every word of every post in an obsessional sort of way. I am grown up enough to make a choice about what I read. .

As for all those critical, bitter posters out there, I suggest you all relax a little and get outside more. Otherwise, you could set up your own blogs where other like-minded folks can chime in and you can all get bent out of shape together.

As others have said to you, Admin., it’s your site. You do what you like. But please note that you have my support and clearly have the support of many others.

However, it sounds to me like he’s running it as a hobby that happens to generate a little cash – and there’s nothing at all wrong with that. Who are we to say how he should express himself on the Web? This site is free after all, I am sure the admin will happily give annoyed readers a full refund… If readers don’t like this site then they should go elsewhere – and if there’s nowhere else they can start their own site!

I for one continue to enjoy this site and don’t mind wading through a bit of rubbish. I come from a media background and can tell you instantly that the site is flawed in many ways. But the whole point of the Web is that anyone can express themselves how they see fit. Yes, that results in hideously irritating ephemera like Twitter, and contributes to the decline of the English language etc. The saving grace is that occasionally something honest and interesting like this site comes along.
