Distance scale is on the ring, so it’s not AF-S or equivalent. Crappy as the picture is, it’s clear that “PRO” does not appear anywhere on the label (focus clutch is only on their pro lenses). So this is par for Tokina. It’s an “amateur” f/2.8 for them to sell alongside (presumably) the 16-50/2.8 AT-X PRO. Assuming that it’s real, of course. One thing I find interesting is that the rings turn the Nikon way, unlike the announced 16.5-135. I would have thought a decision like that wouldn’t be so transitory.

I didn’t see the 70-200VR on the Chinese price list. Does this mean that they are not selling it in China or will it be replaced? Hmmm….

I was also confused by the Nikon and Best Buy post. I read the forum thread used as a source, but it seems like it only refers to the D300. Given the other misinformation in the source thread, I can’t take see how this can be taken as legitimate. I don’t see BB discontinuing Nikon.

btw you scared the crap outta me saying “Nikon discontinued @ BestBuy” instead of nikon d300. Looking at the source it looked to be only about the D300. I want a video D400 so i hope the 14th is right!

The Tokina 18-60 looks interesting, perhaps this new lens incorporates changes from the 16-50 that make it perform equal to the Tamron 17-50 and perhaps at also a cheaper price.

Why is Tokina releasing new lenses without the one touch clutch? This seems like a step back to me. Oh well, I don’t really buy DX lenses anymore anyway.

tokina already have a relatively new 16-50/2.8DX so dont see the point of this. unless its to replace that lens which was an overpriced, underperfoming hunk of junk.

I think it’s something misunderstanded. The price-increasing news of Nikon lenses posted on the well-known website “攝影家手札” in Taiwan are translated from the Japan website. The price going-up is just effective in Japan domestic market starting from April 17. The price shown in the table is JPN Yen. (Before: include VAT, exclude VAT; After: include VAT, exclude VAT)

A 28/1.4 sounds awesome but will be huge and ridiculously expensive. Oh well, at least it’ll be a superb update to the FX prime lineup.

I hope this price raise will only be for China. For the moment I’m waiting before buying another lens (a macro lens) for the prices to go down at least a little bit. If they raise again, my wait is gonna be long…
