I really dont mind what the result was.I know what i would have chosen of those two cameras... Would probably go for the Canon if i started out with a Canon camera.

But when the reviewer doesnt even figure out that there's a built-in falsh on the camera after "a few months" of testing, i sort of have troubles taking the whole review seriouse...

I agree. Until review sites start looking at features that matter, instead of consumer fluff, I won't be taking them seriously.

Lol. It's great to see you Nikon shooters are as crazy as those idiots on DPReview's Canon boards. Always jumping up in arms when someone posts a review against "your product".
Grow up. Get out and shoot.

No doubt many people here think there'll be a 10-18. I'm just hoping for the 85mm f1.4 AF-S to be announced. Not that I want one, it's just been rumored as the next lens for months so I'm keen for things to keep rolling.

They should eally stick to reviewing point and shoots shouldn't they.

They didn't seem all that interrested in picture quality (appart from noise), just features. Completely missed the mark IMO.

I liked how they ignored the fact that the D700 has more dark tone detail than the 5DMKII. It's amazing how much importance some reviewers put on noise levels instead of actual photographic detail is in the shot. D700 has more detail in the dark simple AND less noise how they call it a draw is beyond me.

Well, Gizmodo's a tech/toy site, not a photography site, so it makes sense in a way (even if my D700 & I are a bit taken aback by the result).

Hahaha! loved the comment on the D700 vs 5D mark II review:

"The Nikon wins 3 out of the 4 categories (high ISO shooting is a win in the Nikon - come on - just look at it), and you call it for the Canon?

WTF? "

And even better, in the article:
"Canon priced the 5D $300 lower(!!!!!) than the D700 ($2700 vs $3000 for body-only). The D700's been on the market a few months longer, though, and the prices are starting to come down—you can get the body for $2450(!!!!!) at B&H right now."
First saying that the Canon is $300 cheaper then the Nikon, and in the next sentence pointing out that the D700 is actually $250 cheaper than the Canon... Ridiculus...

Laughed my ass of there...

umm, guys... those are lenses they use for the camcorders on movie sets. if you want to use an adapter to attach it to the camera, you will get really bad and far unacceptable results at all apertures and even if focused properly.

i've used the 85mm ƒ/1 on a super 8 camcorder before and they're okay, nothing compared to leica lenses for super 8's.

That d700 and 5d mark 2 review is rediculous... i love obth nikon and canon, but i would never base a decision on an added feature that has nothing to do with photography.. video is videography.. not photography... love this site though great stuff! thanks for the great news updates!
