I really hope Nikon will release some more prime lens…their camera line up is fine…but their lens need some update pronto

I agree – Nikon D400 will be announced at PMA. The question is what else will be announced. They cleared the Coolpix cameras out of the way, so we should see the good stuff.

ohh and one more thing, if you click on the authors name on the publisher site, notice the publish date of 9/2008 for the d700 book. D700 was announced 7/2008… and they do say “around 29/7/2009″… i say PMA announcement…

uh. if they “pay” that means they buy it, just cause its in bulk don’t mean they didn’t “buy it”.. once they assign it, they can’t reassign it.. google little more…

i doubt the publisher would put 352 pages – 1 CD, 4-color, print photos
if they had no idea what the heck they’re publishing about.. i never seen vaporbooks on amazon. find me one…

and about the publication dates, uhh.. what, a publisher can’t publish books way after release of a camera????

i call it real.

One correction: in Europe, publishers do not even pay for the ISBN prefix. They only do that in the U.S.

First of all, publishers do not “buy” ISBN numbers. They pay only for a prefix based on the number of books they intend to publish over X years. (Shorter prefixes permit more titles, longer prefixes permit fewer.) They then assign their own numbers to the prefix and add the 978 to the front and a check digit to the end.

Secondly, just like we eventually expect a D400, so does the publisher. But that doesn’t mean the publisher has any inside info as to the reality of the camera or the date. It’s simply that, “we think it’s coming out; we think it might be in July, so let’s put in on the schedule.” If it doesn’t come out enough in advance, they’ll delay the pub date and if it doesn’t come out at all, they’ll cancel. Assigning an ISBN and a title means absolutely nothing. It could just be a scam to get hits on their own website.

If you look at other books about Nikon bodies, they come out many months after the camera has been released. The optimists among us will use that to say, “well the camera must be coming out in the next month then.” But the pessimists will use that to say that the publisher is dreaming.

The ISBN numbers are valid, the short one and the long one, plus the long one is the correct conversion of the short one.
Also a well known and serious publisher like “Markt & Technik” is highly unlikely to buy an ISBN number just for fun.

this def looks real. I did some researching on the ISBN, and yep, it does actually match the publisher and all the math based on this german site (translated to english).

I went to the publishers site to confirm with other titles that this ISBN matches others and it did, to my surprise, not only that but they do have it in their catalog.

Here here! L E N S E S, paaleeeze, Nikon. The D300, D700, D3, and D3x are fine for a while. I am tired of too few lens choices compared to drastically more Canon lenses. I just can’t get the arsenal I need and I continue to have to purchase old lenses (D types like 50 mm f/1.4D (I know, but the new one is not avail yet), 17-35 f/2.8D). And increase manufacturing supply, get them out faster.

D400 will be DX. There is simply no other logical choice for Nikon.
