Additionally, the announcement of a new camera also has economical impacts. New camera announced = price of old camera models going down, many people will be disappointed if they buy a new D3/D300 only to find that it’s $200 less the following week because Nikon has just announced a new model.

My guess is an interchangeable back (MF style). That can explain why Nikon stops D3 production since it will comes as a D3 sensor back.

It is liked the old day with the F2 system.

cameron, not everybody surfing to this site owns already a d3/700. but for sure i’d like one… so if you have one to spend… you could be sure you don’t have to read my comments for the next 2 years because i’m shooting some nice pictures not asking what “new thing” nikon has to offer!

can somebody give me the answer to this question,

why do everybody wants the latest and newest camera to replace the camera they already have… a camera that does the task and clean up to iso 3200 for 8 x 10 prints?

i dont want answers like “i want cleaner high ISO’s”, “i want more megapixels”, blah blah blah ((that is what everyone on this site seem to be hunting for))…

You will all be pleased. Believe me. It is the first high res 24×36 that I enjoy the detail. It does not give you that smudgy feeling at the first look.”

It doesn’t sense. I mean, why would Nikon be developing another camera at basically the same time as the D3, or while it was being produced, without knowing it would negate the D3’s quality? Assuming it would be a larger sensor, that wouldn’t make the D3 obsolete, it would just make it a separate model.

So, it seems that either the ‘mystery camera’ is either a larger sensor camera like a Leica S2, or a smaller sensor, newer more capable camera below the D3. It’s hard to believe that Nikon would ‘remake’ the D3 after seem kind of design mistakes or flaw. I have wondered if Leica came out with the S2 to beat Nikon to the starting line while putting the R10 on hold. Who knows? It’s all rumors and speculation after all!!!!!

IMHO, Lasse Pettersson is from Nikon SWEDEN.

Concerning Nikon topics, I would rather trust a Nikon representative than Mr Nobody from dpreview forum.
