What a shame. It was in a totally different class to the Canon 17-35 f2.8L. It was much better than the Canon 16-35 f2.8L. Maybe, on their 3rd attempt, Canon reached a similar standard with their 16-36 f2.8L II.

I’m not saying it’s not discontinued, but not having it on the pricelist in one country does not mean it’s not available anywhere. Sometimes, based on sales, local distributors or Nikon divisions elect not to carry a lens.

I forget which country, but last year one country dropped a lot of Nikon lenses from their pricelists, but they remain available in other countries to this day.

The 17-35 is ready for an upgrade. 16-35 or even 16-40 would be very nice, it would then be even more useful as a normal zoom on DX.
It never really did shine on digital FF, and the performance was a bit uneven at f/2.8. I think Nikon can be able to fix these two problems.

It is if you compare it to the 14-24mm/f2.8! This is a pain – I might have bought a second hand 17-35, but now the used prices will go up

You can get many of these 17-35 in Singapore – Nikon SG has them listed still at SGD $3065 BUT….. you can get it for between SGD $2450 and SGD $2750 if you ask around…. I spent 4 days deciding over this 17-35 or the 14-24 and got the 14-24 and my deciding factor was me being truly shattered!! if a NEW 17-35 came out in the next 6-12 months: Nikons PRO Lenses have a “in the range life” of 8-10 years (besides that I reckon when the replacement comes out It’ll be a 16-35)…….??

I thought the replacement for this lens was the 14-24mm f2.8. Anyway, I prefer this lens over the 14-24mm. I really need to get this lens out and use it more.

I heard it will be discontinued soon, i was expecting the 70-200 to be replaced this year. I guess they are still working ot it’s replacement!!

I bought all three of my pro zooms in the past year and a half, and two out of three of them have been discontinued: 28-70 f/2.8 and now the 17-35 f/2.8.

I guess the 70-200 f/2.8 VR is next.

So this means no more pro wide FX zoom that can take filters?
Either a replacement is imminent, or I don’t get this.
