not a professional photographer …have touch with digi cameras for a year….. am thinking of buying nikon dslr camera… i went all the reviews for d90 and very promising i suppose…but i can’t afford so much …. which would be my better choice ….

The price with lens doesn’t give you a comparable price point. It’s a new lens and we don’t know the value.

Like the admin said we know the price. Because of that price d90 has nothing to do with xsi. D90 is more in line with the canon d40 or upcoming d50.

it is completely normal to get out the D40x in my opinion as the D60 is a D40x with a couple of features more.

it would be more smart to keep the line like that

D40 (for the very cheap camera because 2 years-old, can be easily found in the classifieds)
D60 (brand new replacing the D40)
D90
D300
D700
D3
D3x?

I don’t know, this seems to be much ado about nothing. they just let the domain name expire. The product page is still up. If you go to the nikonusa website, you see that they have a new design – I’d guess it is that the other sites will be transitioning to the new site, so they are letting the off beat ones (the micro sites) just die and not renew.

Not that I don’t think the D90 is coming very soon, of course. I’ve got my credit card in hand, hand on the mouse button, excuse to my wife rehearsed…I’m ready!

Huh? We don’t even know how much the D90 will cost, but likely it will be between $900 to $1000. That’s not twice as much. It’s about $300 more, and you’d be getting a much nicer camera.

Have you actually held a XSI? It feels like a junky plastic toy compared to something like the D80.

They need to cover that price point, and something that can AF more lenses, compete with canon but a slight step below the D90.

Any ideas on the video part? will it have a dedicated button? Think of shooting with the 10.5mm fish [awesome] or that sigma 30mm 1.4 in the dark. It’s a good thought. Following in the good name of the d80, it should be a great camera, destroying the XSI. Or so I hope.
