I’m writing a song for the D90 entitled:

“Hurry Up and Stop Making Me Wait”

    I expect three Grammys.

Wake me up when the D700 hits the D300′s release price… :-\

I think this chart tells us a lot about why the D90 release has taken so long. The D200 and D80 are still readily in stock, with the D200 occupying the price point that I expect the D90 to slide into.

Unless the D700 can magically shrink in size (same as a D90) as well as price, I’m not interested. The D300/700 are just too large for walk around cameras. The D700 would be an amazing studio camera for me but I cannot justify having 2 DSLR’s and I’ll take the one that gets more use every time. Portability = more use.

i suppose, the d90′s price will be $100 or 200 higher… we’ve seen some samples on this site already… (((

If you’re referring to the Best Buy and Circuit City posts, those were prices with a kit lens. Body only price should be about $999. It would be insane for Nikon to release a consumer grade camera (the D90) at a higher price point then one of their professional cameras (D200), even if the D200 is three years old. I expect that camera to sell out very soon.

I just checked, it’s still $1624. Maybe it was a “short time” discount? Somebody got lucky!

Who is buying the D40x? And at that price? And without a lens kit? Or is that first price a typo? Either way, why do I care? Carry on…

I think D40x has been discontinued (I am not sure if this is official) – that’s why the price is only for refurbished or used models.

Are there any predictions about the D3 dropping in price after the D3x comes out (whenever that may be)? I am interested in the D3, but I am wondering if it would be a good idea to wait on it and see if the price lowers anymore than the $4500 range. Any speculations?

I think this is a great idea. If you’re going to take the time to enter the information it would be cool to setup some type of java script graph where you could graph by any time line.

Why did the d60 go down 1 cent? haha

    Posted August 21, 2008 at 4:24 pm | Permalink

Probably not significantly, the D3 is more of a sports camera while the D3x will be rather a landscape and portrait camera. Although I’m not sure, but if you don’t need it now, waiting is often a good idea.

The D3 dropped already $500 in the past month or so. It really depends on how much will the new D3 cost.

There are some sites that already provide graphs, but they do not include B&H and Adorama. Will work on it.
