The page shown specifically states that the offered price is not binding, and lists no specs. That makes it vaporware. We’ll know the real specs–and price–soon enough. I’m hoping that its main effect will be to drive down the price on the D3.

Thanks for the good words. Few people reported that this is a legit dealer in France and we still consider this as “significant” news. I will have to check if this dealer is an authorized Nikon reseller.

Unfortunately our local Nikon rep is super tight lipped (such is the power of the Nikon NDA). I can confirm that he will be in a sales meeting next week and announcements usually follow the sales meetings as that’s when the reps are made aware of new product (at least in Canada). The date of August 27th seems to fit with this timeframe.

Yes, Muller was right to "offer" the D700 before its official launch. However, since it's available, Muller removed this model from the list.

Muller has only two cameras on stock: Canon 1000D and 450D. Two additional ones are out-of-stock: Canon 40D and Sony Alpha 700. The other four models on the list do not exist. Canon 7D, Nikon D90, D3x and Sony Alpha 900. Muller does not have ANY existing Nikon DSLR for sale; there is no Canon 1D or 1Ds, no Sony Alpha 200, 300 or 350.

I don't understand why Muller is offerings no existing products. Yes, the pre-announcement helps to get visitors on the page, but for what purpose if there is nothing you can buy? The shop looks like fraud.

And I do not understand why NikoRumors refers to this site.

the price could be applicable to D3,” – that’s where my post could’ve stopped. My Apologies for going on about whether or not the post should exist, as of course it should exist (this is a Rumor site). Took the post in too rigid of a context for the information this site is offering. While I think maybe the OP could’ve noted the date and picture themselves to clarify the context initially, it’s up to each viewer to evaluate the rumors they see and give feedback (to the rumor, not the site). NikonRumors, thanks for being here for us.

Thanks for the comment. I have a quick question: I got some reports that authorized dealers are receiving invitations for an Nikon event at the end of August with some teaser slogans, something like “the flow of images” (referring to the video in D90?). Can you confirm that? Email me if you have to.

I sell cameras for a living and ANY retailer claiming a current IN production camera (D300) is no longer in production is a retailer to be avoided. The D300 being discontinued makes no sense and the thought is devoid of reason. Nikon clearly has an established history of maintaining a product like the D300 in the line up for at least two years. To do otherwise is to piss of your customer base. Nikon IS a smart company an would not do that and have no established history of such behavior.
This french retailer will obviously do anything and say anything to make the pre order seem logical and are preying upon the less informed of the general public, shame on them.

I know this shop in France, it’s a real shop, not only online. Im agree, pages are “light” and with wrong pics or infos, but if they have Publish those
pages it’s surely because they know something… and it’s a rumor, isn’t it ? so
