What I had in mind was a proof for the rumors – so this is a real rumor! The evidence will come (or not) with the official release from Nikon.

The D3X is quite possibly the most obvious-to-guess camera that Nikon has ever made. There is almost no spec that could be debated. LOL. All we need now is for the release day to come! I bet it won’t come until after mid-July, however. We’ll se the D90 before mid-July though.
