I asked my parents to enroll me in a photography class after school. I had asthma so I couldn't play sports, so they signed me up. I loved seeing something, then capturing it in time. Digital is great, and my primary medium at this point, but the cost of film and processing forces you to think before you capture the image. I will always have a soft spot for that F3HP, and I admit it, that was my first Nikon. My first camera was a Fujica STX1N. Those light meters still can't be beat!

You beat me by 8 years - I got my first Nikon when I was 16. It was the FM2 (black).

Let me start by saying I have been a Nikon guy since age 8... and while I am glad they are focusing on the digital SLR line of cameras, I am a little bitter that the company that has always prided itself in a lens system that is completely backwards compatible started producing DX series lenses when we all know the future of pro digital lies in full sized FX. I purchased my first DX lens for my D200 and I am very happy with its performance and quality, but I am a little unhappy about the fact that I can't use it on my F3HP, F5 or D5*. Kudos on the latest 14-24 it's spectacular, but where is the VR on the 24-70?

D300 is AWESOME, but... I want to love you Nikon, I really do... but sometimes you make me crazy! Just slap an FX sensor on all future Dxxx and Dx cameras and we can all go home happy tonight.

Am I the only one that feels this way?

* referring to the Nikon pro digital camera that I will purchase when it comes out... still saving my pennies.

Oh, and I could also go for some more f/2 VR primes, and a 50-150 2.8 DX VR or something, hehe...

=Matt=

I think Nikon played their digital cards perfectly- going after the beginners and newcomers first, by making stellar beginner / amateur cameras. Ever since the D70, Nikon's lineup has ruled. Now that they have gained a huge base of consumers, it's time to focus on delivering high-end equipment for these consumers to upgrade to, and of course to reward the pros who've stuck around. 2008 is shaping up to be the year of pro primes, I think. Let's see some SWM f/1.4 glass, Nikon!!!!

=Matt=
